To use arcane magic, one must pull magical energy from another plane or be in possession of a magical item containing a material from a different plane. Arcane magic is often considered to be the most powerful type of magic because its spells are more diverse than those of divine magic or nature magic. Those who use this kind of magic are granted more freedom with what they can do with it because they are able to learn and create spells.

The main restriction of using arcane magic is that its users a limited to spells they have learned. Magic of all forms is rare and attempting to find information on different spells can be time-consuming and costly. Furthermore, as a mage continues to gain more arcane knowledge and cast stronger spells, they will need a higher quality magical item to cast the spell through. Trying to cast a spell that is too powerful or casting too many spells can result in the user's body being altered in a way that reflects the plane the draw their magic from.
