Mauvenia (country)

Mauvenia formed in the destruction of the Black Horde of the dragon, Kreedalockin. Vale Mauven, a powerful wizard, was one of three heroes who defeated Kreedahluck first hand. She laid claim to some of the northern reaches of the fallen Browden Empire where she had allies amongst the powerful families and surviving military. When marauders from the White Teeth mountains began moving south to test the weakened territories, Mauven drove them back capturing devotion from many of the commoners. Mauven's popularity amongst the people continued until her death. Serperus, the capital, has a massive concentric tiered mausoleum dedicated around her burial. There are many beliefs that she continues to protect Serperus and her shrine is heavily visited.
While she was alive, Vale Mauven established a republic government that reported to her. The Magist Council reflects a meritocratic goal of knowledge and experience across many areas. Mauvenia has continued its stability after Vale Mauven's death. It has attracted several centers of high magic within its border. These are closely monitored by the Eye of Mauven, an interdisciplinary organization that watches over and intervenes in disruptive magic use and knowledge.
