DEITY: Twillex, Assassin of the Gods

~ The Dagger ~
Domains: Executions, Monster Hunters, Bounty, Killers, Assassins
Civil & Trade Roles: Monster Hunters, Assassins, Bounty Hunters, Executioners, Killers
Primary Avatar: A slim man in a dark formal suit, black embroidery, and black pearl buttons on fine black wool.

Twillex is the god of killers. He and his devotees may be sent out in response to a request from another god or being. He is prayed to by those seeking a final vengeance against another. It is said that those that dedicate themselves to being a killer for him will always get the vengeance they seek. The most respectable civil devotee would be someone in the Monster Slayers’ Guilds or bounty hunters employed by the state.
He has a dozen flat daggers of legendary craftsmanship. They are secret alloys of adamantium, but they have been said to be unbreakable, salted iron, silvered, magical, and poisoned. Lore says that he whispers the name of his target to his dagger and it always finds its mark until they are destroyed, not merely dead. A myth says that in anger or hatred he has spoken the name of some god into a dagger. The god named changes in the myths. Regretting it, has has hidden them away, as the dagger cannot be destroyed and will never relent in their destruction.
The Libram Mortis is a vast library that documents deaths in the world. Sable, O'Dillah, and Twillex all keep the library safe. There, a folio covers each death done by his followers in his name. The folio shows the names involved and statements of three witnesses, three enforcers, and up to three victims. The crime is detailed and where and when recorded. It shows when and how they died and which follower performed the death rite.
Executioner's Guild members are sought after and some travel around an area to perform duties in small towns. They may refuse to perform an execution if they are suspicious. They are always literate as they document each sentence, recording witnesses of the crime and usually speaking directly to them. Three witnesses, three protectors (soldiers, the town's guard, etc).  They choose who they interview, and they do it alone. Of course, they are paid by the head and if they find reason not to, they won't be paid. Tradition says that a person freed, due to the executioner's investigation would give them a gift appropriate with what they can offer. Needless to say, there will be cases where the wealthy are freed for the gift that is "appropriate with what they can offer.".
His weapons were a garrote or a wide dagger with forward concave guard, and a triangular blade that started 3"-4" wide just inside the guard. The edges were raised and most of the inner blade is thinned and decorated.
The Flame Lily, a flowering plant in the wilds of subtropical regions, is associated with Twilllex. The entire plant is poisonous. If ingested, Gloriosa poisoning results in hair loss, dehydrating diarrhea, numbness in the mouth and then extremities, internal bleeding, altered mental states, followed by seizures and coma, before death.
The deadly water hemlock family of plants is said to grow where he walked, dripping the blood of the slain. The white flowering, temperate perennial plant stands 6-8 feet in full growth., with distinctive white (or sometimes pale green) flowers in an umbrella shape. Its unpleasant, musty odor usually causes animals to avoid it unless there is no other foliage or feed available to eat. But the plant which resembles parsley with a parsnip-like root often kills wildlife and cattle. Tremors and loss of speech followed by muscle weakness and paralysis, with violent convulsions and deadly seizures. Once unconscious, lung, and kidney failures are followed by death. A lethal dose may bring death in as little as 15 minutes. The rootstocks are multichambered and contain a yellowish oily liquid that turns reddish-brown on exposure to air and emits a characteristic smell of raw carrot or parsnip. This highly toxic liquid is used as a blade or arrow poison.
