Always tip a doorman, lest the wrong door be opened.

Adelfhi is the Master of Doors, the Whisperer at the Crossroads, and the Child of Mischief. Adelfhi has a ring of keys that are said to open any lock or door that isn't created, controlled, held, or locked by another god. When he taps a key against an ordinary closed door, it will open to anywhere he chooses.
Hanging old keys over the front door of a home is said to ward against mischief directed at those within the house.
At route crossroads, the common pole of destinations has directions and miles to nearby locations carved or painted on wood. This is an Adelfhi custom, and his adherents maintain and correct the posts. It is said that Adelfhi would change the direction of a sign so that someone would get to where they needed to be, not where they were heading. But others would randomly be detoured to follow the same path, not knowing if the mistake was meant for them. That might just be a bonus amusement for the god. To avoid the trickster nature of their god, adherents nail a large ring of eight keys to the top of the post. The keys would dangle, one at each of the eight cardinal directions.
As the Doorman, Adelfhi is looked to for assistance in "opening doors" and getting access to situations that are unavailable. This could mean rising above one's station, class, rank, wealth, or skill. Applicants to schools of learning, trade positions or even wizardry might ask for the trickster assistance in opening the door for them to be accepted. This might mean someone else deserving of that chance may be waylaid by an unfortunate turn of chance or mischief.
