Bounty

Bounty is the warmest season of the year. This is the height of the growing season. Cool crops have been harvested already. Warmth-loving ornamentals will flower during these weeks. Temperature peaks occur during this time.   Bounty runs from 0 to 14 weeks. It is shorter towards the poles and much longer at the equator. Temperate lands use a five to eight week Bounty (65-104) days.

The Rings of Urth

At the Thawn Equinox, the equator and therefore the planetary rings are aligned on edge with our Sun.  The rings briefly cast no shadow on that day and are not visible at night. As weeks progress, the rings that face the sun will dip to the south, causing a rising shadow ring to spread southward across the surface of Urth during cool seasons.  The darkest shadow occurs at the outermost rings, which will widen and move south across the face of Urth until they reach the Arctic circle on the Bounty Solstice.   On the northern side of Urth, after the Thawn Equinox, the sun-lit rings will spread up into the night sky. The sunward side of the rings faces Urth's night side, reflecting light brighter than any full moon. The bright rings roll up until we see full arches at night. The reflection of the sun's light at night prevents any true darkness at night, except under significant cloud cover. As Bounty approaches, the inside center of the ring shade will be cut into by the round shadow of Urth. By Bounty's Solstice the rings are two partial arcs of light to the east and west. This creates a brightening from the equinox that peaks, then dims by the solstice to return to a peak brightness at night, followed by the arcs sliding down the sky until they vanish at the Autumn Equinox.
