Anti-Resurrectionists

Anti-resurrectionists believe in The One Life. This is a philosophy that denies the use of resurrection magic. Death is vital and your time is chosen for you. It is not for you to deny. This is in line with the teachings of Sabel, but the opposite of O'Dillah. Both are gods that handle death, but O'Dillah offers resurrection and the view that you have many lives to live. The soul lives beyond the moment of death. This life is just a journey, a story, and one of many stories you will experience. Each story has a beginning and an end.   Sabel teaches that death is death. You will never exist again as you do now: these thoughts, these memories. Death is your end. Death is what makes life worth having lived. It is only with the finality of death, that you can look over a lifetime and judge if it was well-lived.   The use of magic to resurrect or reincarnate is forbidden. It is a violation of the natural order of life and death. Some adherents waver on revivification, but most would refuse it. The most strict refuse any magical healing, but many see that as avoiding death as much as eating is avoiding death from starvation.   MECHANICS: The soul and the mind are two distinct subtle bodies.  The mind is your life as lived, the memories, thoughts, experiences.  The soul is an eternal being, separate from the many lives (minds) lived. it will be attached to many lives through eternity.  Souls naturally reincarnate into new minds.  Sabel places value on the life of the mind while alive in the material world. Death is an important end.  Purely ethereal beings are of little value. The importance of the Ethereal world is for a mind to live on as an ethereal being near to the material world, like a spirit or ghost. O'Dillah offers resurrection of that mind, negating the value of death.
