Crown of the Mad Moon

Once upon a time, in a great and powerful empire, was a village. This village was no different than any other. This village was tucked away at the corner of the lands, right next to a great and old wood. This forest was a home for many animals and a playground for one orphaned boy. This boy loved to play more than anything and spent much of his time there. The other children of the village liked to play tricks on the boy because he was thin, cheerful and played in the woods. The other children were told to not play in these woods for they were not safe. But this boy had none to tell him that.    One day the children of the village came up with a game. This was a monster hunting game and it could not be played with out a monster, so the children chose the boy to play the part. They chased him with long pointy sticks deep into the woods. When they had chased him far and felt tired, they left. The boy was left injured and curled up under a great oak tree. When the silence fell on the forest the boy opened his eyes. It was dark. The boy started to hear a soft whisper, from deep within the woods. The voice called out to him, invited him to join them, deep within the woods. The boy chose to follow the voice and walked even deeper in. A moment later he discovered where the voice was coming from. It was a crown made of a pale yellow stone like the moon. The crown gave off a pale yellow glow, casting shadows on all the trees around it. These shadows almost looked like they were dancing around the crown. The voice invited the boy to try the crown for it now belonged to him. And so did the boy.   The moment the crown rested upon the boys head the dancing stopped. At that moment all the shadows bowed before the boy like servants before a king. The boy no longer felt sacred or alone for now he had a new family. The crown lit the path before so the boy would know where to go. The boy walked trough the forest and all the shadows followed, like a parade of shadow puppets. The boy showed the shadows around the town. When morning came the town was silent, like the forest that one fateful night.
