Personal history
Yorb is purple. Being purple meant that he was groomed to serve as an administrator or commander. Since he was young, the leaders had determined that he would be better suited as a commander and he was trained accordingly. Once he was proficient as a warrior and a leader, he was given a group of warriors to lead into battles. He served his people well. Achieving success on the battlefield earned him higher rank and more warriors to command. Serving well meant that his people honored him, but Yorb struggled with the very nature of his people.
Being pulled into the Shadow Rift and into the Mundane world was finding freedom. It was an escape from everything that he'd thought he would never be able to leave. His people are cruel and brutal. In the Mundane world, he now has the power to choose to use his skills for something better. He wandered Seattle for about 2 years. He found a small group of other Shadow Kind that he was able to align himself with. He helped those that he could whenever he saw the need.
One night he was in the Volunteer Park, enjoying a nap in the South Lily Pond, when he was happened upon by Ebonie Wiggins. While he was sleeping, she captured him and took him to her lab in the Department 7 Headquarters building where she used him as a test subject in her efforts to try to discover what it was that made creatures sentient. During the first week of his capture, she kept him drugged and out of water. This rendered him powerless to oppose her. After that, she kept him locked in a cage and only giving him enough water to keep him alive. Because of this he grew weak and was unable to escape or fight her. He spent a year living in these horrible conditions. Enough time had passed that he had come to believe that he would die there in her lab, still in that tiny cage desperate for water.
But the unbelievable happened. A stranger came into Ebonie's lab one day and freed Yorb from his cage. Avitus expected nothing in return. He had been freed only because Avitus believed that it was the right and just thing to do. Since then, Yorb has been living with Avitus. Life has been comfortable and easy with an abundance of water. There has never been such a variety of foods so readily available in his life. And still, Avitus asks nothing from him other then to learn his language. Yorb was happy to do this as it meant that they would be better able to communicate with each other. And, thus far, it has been the only service that he has been able to provide. But he has sworn his swords to Avitus, if he ever needs them.
Yorb returned to the group of Shadow Kind that he had previously been living with and collected his belongings from them. He encouraged them to join him, but they did not trust anyone who worked for the Shadow Investigation Unit and thought that Yorb was insane for doing so. They would not join him. Thus, he parted ways with these friends, knowing that they would leave their hide way believing him to be compromised. It is likely that he will never see them again. While this saddens him, Yorb cannot dismiss the life debt that he now owes to Avitus.

Employment
Working as a commander is the only profession that he has ever known. A job that was chosen for him because of the color of his skin. He wonders who he could have been had he been allowed to decide for himself.
Accomplishments & Achievements
While he was an accomplished and high ranked commander in the Grung army, he took no pride in it. There was no way that he could consider the murder and kidnapping of hundreds of people worthy or regard.
Failures & Embarrassments
Regrets plague him. Surely there was something that he could have done differently in his life. There must have been some way to have avoided the wars and the raiding. It was painful to believe that the path his people were on was now inevitable and unchangeable.
Mental Trauma
The wars, raids and battles haunt him. All the dead, from both sides, call to him from the grave and accuse him of his many sins. Closing his eyes means facing the visions of the battle fields: the injured, the dead, the dying and those that were still struggling to stay alive by destroying the lives of others.
