Athenaeum Fraternity
Sphere: Criminal
The Athenaeum Fraternity could have been one of the great Orders of Ur, as they defended the city during the Godswar, but they refused to take part as they rejected, and still reject, the legitimacy of the Council of the Orders.
Culture
The Athenaeum Fraternity believe in empowering individuals and working collectively, while abhoring secrets and hierarchy. While most members have a reputation for being all talk, a non-trivial number of riots and arsons have been traced back to the faction.
Public Agenda
The Librarians obviously have no official duties, nor representation in the Council of the Orders, but are drawn to share knowledge as teachers, librarians, book sellers, demagogues and journalists. Some are more proactive as agitators, union organisers and outright saboteurs.
In recent times, the window of acceptible Fraternity activity has been hotly debated. The actions of 355 have painted the Fraternity in a bad light and has drawn much unwanted attention. As such, there are some who would shy away from taking radical action. While overall the Fraternity remains veheimetly opposed to the Orders, some might see the Synod as an ugly means to an ends. Others, inspired by the works of Kindly Jaq, wish to see a non violent approach taken independant of the Synod. But with the ever increasing scruty of the Dogma upon them, this may prove too idealistic.
