In Germanic 'Alf' means 'white ones', possibly meaning fair and beautiful.

Anatomy

Àlfs are very human looking. In many cases seen as beautiful for human eyes. While some have more unusual skin colors, many have varying hues similar to humans, but some have more "unnatural" hues. They do all have one tell though, which is their pointy ears.
