Svargarm, the Black Wolf
Svargarm is the wolf god of death and keeper of the Underworld. He is described as a large black wolf with deep purple eyes with flecks of glowing silver. It is believed by the wolf tribes that Svargarm will appear before those destined to die and if they meet their fate with bravery and dignity, he would walk with them to shores of the Great Sea where they can sail to lands unknown with their ancestors. Svargarm worship is rare outside Terra Viridis, but many wolves still tell the stories associated with him in taverns and before battles.
In the fox tradition, Svargarm is partner to the fox god of life Valkettu and the two are destined to be the final two beings in the ruins of creation after the Helwinter destroys all other life in the world. Grey wolves that worship Svargarm often stain their teeth with berry juice before undertaking dangerous tasks such as extended voyages or battles. Red wolves that worship Svargarm often have the black wolf motif dyed into their fur, usually on their chests or backs.
Svargarm's symbol is a black wolf motif with amethysts for eyes. Red wolves depict him head on with his maw open and his teeth bloodied, where grey wolves tend to depict him in profile and on a field of green or blue representing the Great Sea. Foxes depict his symbol from head on but with the maw closed and usually alongside Valkettu's white fox motif. Many fox depictions represent the full silhouette of both characters with their tails intertwined.
