High Jarl

Highest authority in the Ursaan jarldoms with final authority on all disputes brought before them. The title of High Jarl falls upon the jarl that can prove they are the strongest and wisest of the jarls as decided by the priests of the White Fane. The title, once bestowed, can only be challenged by ritual combat or during a lunar eclipse and otherwise is a lifetime appointment. If challenged during a lunar eclipse, the priests of the White Fane will commune with the ancestors and if the spirits do not stand with the High Jarl it is said the moon will fall completely dark as in a new lunar cycle and the title will be forfeit.
