Mordheim Jacovin
Dr. Mordheim Jacovin (a.k.a. Doc)
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Mordheim was raised in the embattled lands of Ibesh where war has been a common way of life for the past several centuries. Learning medicine by apprenticing to a local Barber, Mordheim performed the same services in his village until the army came through the area and conscripted him into service. For the next two and a half decades he worked as a combat medic and battlefield surgeon before returning to the countryside to ply is trade in peace. Unfortunately, he has tasted adventure and would crave it continuously. At length he decided to once again head out into the world and do the Doctor thing wherever it was needed. One day he visited the docks for some lunch, met Ixtab and that was the beginning of a new and lasting friendship.
Mordheim is a human in his mid forties, but war and stress has taken its toll on him. His skin is wrinkled and scarred in places where the battlefield came too close to claiming his life and his hair is white with gray streaks. He keeps a short, well trimmed beard and has spectacles that he now requires to read.
One would think that traditional practicing of medicine is obsolete with magic in the world, but one would forget that not every village has a local wizard and not every wizard can reattach an arm. That where Mordheim excels. During the Interregnum Wars of Ibesh Mordheim had to keep up with the wizards and sorcerers of the army to maintain his position as one of the head surgeons. His talent for medicine under the worst conditions is unparalleled and his ability to continue surgery and medical procedures without rest is likewise impressive.
Mordheim has a pretty silly mannerism, when he become frustrated or overwhelmed he actually begins mumbling to himself in his gravely voice. When dealing with others he is often quite polite and friendly, however when someone is trying to talk to him while he is trying to perform medicine he becomes very harsh and direct, and will often drive people away unless needed for surgery.
Personality wise, Mordheim truly is a decent man. While he can be callous and harsh at times, and his bedside manner definitely leaves something to be desired, he subscribes to the ideal that everyone deserves respect, even if they don't return it. As a man of medicine, he is also bound to provide medical attention to any person in need of such that crosses his path.
