Witches of America

Witches of America inhabit, predictably, all fifty states of the United States of America. Unlike the witches of United Britannia and Hibernia, American witches tend to be more brazen and warlike. American witches view UBH witches as too formal, and UBH witches view American witches as far too familiar.

History

American witches settled in the US in 1322, and like their UBH counterparts, kept their distance from the humans who settled there later. (It is to be noted that witches had an excellent relationship with Native Americans and enjoyed that until the 1900s, when for safety reasons, American witches retreated into their own cities.)

Military

Additionally, unlike the UBH witches, the American witches have a military; or, rather, they have witches especially trained in combat. Americans are much less restricted in their magic use, and even allow witches born with Dark Magic to live and flourish, although they are almost always duelists (e.g., part of the military). Students are trained in dueling from a young age, unlike the witches of the UBH.

Names

American witches also tend to use mythological names, although their first names tend to be more varied than in the UBH. Unlike witches in the UBH, where 99% of surnames are one syllable, American witches also have a wide variety of surnames of more than one syllable.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

A variation of Britannian (both groups can understand one another quite easily).

Common Dress code

American witches dress in a very similar way to American humans.
