Omega

The Omega are the governing class of the Unified America Project (UAP). Everyone who is a government official, politician, celebrity, or influencer in the UAP is a member of Omega, although many would deny it. In the UAP, people can’t reach certain numbers of followers on social media, or be allowed over a specific allotment of credits without permission from the Omega (again, something many would deny: encouraging followers to work hard and try their best while knowing reaching this level through hard work alone is impossible). The Omega make decisions which shape the public and private lives of Project Citizens; they determine what kind of people are best suited to which jobs, where people can live, what kind of personal transport and vetementation is available, and even which words can be said, both in public and in private. They approve the appropriate consequences for misdeeds, but more importantly, they work together to market social changes in ways that influence the public without having to resort to punitive measures. Subliminal messaging, manipulation, and societal pressure through media were proven to work far better than force on most people before and even during the Texas Revolution, and public perception is really what makes or breaks the attaining and retaining of power. There are two branches of the Omega, working together to shape the lives and behavior of Project Citizens. The Project Guild is the side who are openly politicians. The Guild meets several times a year, and votes on any new or modified societal rules, approves new Guild members and Humanists, and generally decides what is right and wrong. Any major decisions must go through the Guild Sovereign. The celebrities, influencers, and other wealthy Project Citizens secretly brought into politics to ensure compliance are called Humanists. Some Humanists are openly friendly with the Omega, throwing their support behind certain members of the Guild, attending their opulent parties, making speeches, and posting on their feeds about politics. Other Humanists are more subtle, or even make claims in direct opposition to the Guild. These Humanists are there to allow Project Citizens to feel as though they have a voice, and the ability to speak out. Most Citizens still won’t think for themselves, so the Guild has found that having a safe place for detractors to land, social feeds where they can disagree with their government without being radicalized, lets people blow off steam without getting out of control. In that way, the Omega can control every opinion, even those that seem in opposition.

History

The first 100 member Guild met during the Post-Revolution Reconstruction period. At the time, Guild members were leaders in politics, entertainment, technology, and the economic sector. They agreed society needed to remain peaceful, and Citizens should be prevented from feeling the kind of anger and stress that caused a civil war and revolution. They used propaganda and manipulation to garner support for their ideas and their cause, and by combining the minds of the most powerful people in every field, they were easily able to form the United America Project as they believed it should be.

Religion

There are no practiced religions under the Omega. Religion is seen as obsolete and unnecessary. The Omega are often at odds with religious separatist groups in Zion and Texas, and anyone practicing religion is seen as an enemy. Project Citizens are expected to believe in science, technology, and what they are told by the government. Religion is put in a similar category as conspiracy theories and ancient mythology.
