Fireship

After the effectiveness of explosives on the Night of the Burning sea, Lacertillia designed a cheap, easily built, sturdy, single-manned ship. The ship is a simple narrow boat with a single mast in the center and a small raised castle at the back. This castle also has a covered section to protect the single crewman. The ships are the reason for Lacertillia's dominance of the north Gem sea.

Hell on water

Despite its classification as a warship, it seems to have no weaponry on it, other than what the single crewman carries. In fact, the first time it was seen in battle the enemy laughed, till their flagship decided ramming was the only acceptable way to deal with something so small. The little ship exploded with an ear-splitting bang, reducing the flagship to nothing and crippling or sinking of five other ships. The sea itself seemed to catch fire and the screams of the wounded and burning could be heard in both fleets. The surviving captain from one ship just in the blast described it as hell, a name that got linked to the whole class of ships.

Fireship

The reason for the explosive personality of the ships is due to the single weapon they carry. The ship is packed with barrels of Gdooble oil. The short fuse is lit just before reaching the target and the crewman jumps overboard, staying underwater as long as he can while he swims back to a friendly.

Fine line between bravery and insanity

Fireship pilots are honored in Lacertillia. To be even considered a sailor must prove their ability to swim, hold their breath, and fearlessness in the face of death. This has led to the question of whether their insanely brave or just insane.
The truth probably lies somewhere in between, maybe, not even Lacertillia would put nut cases in charge of explosives surly.
