Drusk

The main port of the lowlands coast has been a supply point for the Empire of Akoom in its day and as a control point after for several kingdoms that took its place.

History

Origins

During the Glorious Crusade, various groups of unorganized fighters were engaging the Paladins, making supply lines and organizing troops difficult from the Blessed Plains. After a decade of this, Fylkir Griarc decided to build a fortified location in which to control the coastal area. Settling on three hills on the coast he built a command fort on the central one, a dock on the closest to the sea, and a small village on the third.   Mostly built of wood, to begin with, the structures would be replaced with stone through the remained of the Rebel age.

Supply of the north

By the Divine Age Drusk had become the main supply base for the northern part of the empire. Ships poured in with troops and supplies as the paladins pushed north. Afterward, it would be the main port going north, even being the first stop for goods before High Town.   This would be the only time in the era of ages Drusk was classified as a major settlement.

Rebelian and warlord

Drusk was 'liberated' by several of Smallhand's old fleet, who raided the port and cleared out the Paladin's presence. As the Rivell rebellions kicked off, the city lay empty allowing for the fracturing of the north.   As the Empire of Akoom collapsed a local Orkish warlord took over the fort, allowing for him to control the local area. Opressing the farms of the area, causing a revolt that overthrew him. This cycle continued with various warlords taking over before they lost control.   By the Crisis of the Fey age, a Naga by the name of Ershi had taken over. Taking more a protective approach to the area, Ershi opened up trade again, becoming a supply hub for the northern conflict during it.

Layout

The forts are built on three hills surrounded by flooded valleys. Two large stone sea walls come out from the land, creating a calm water area for the dock.

Keep

The keep is a large castle built upon the tallest hill. thick walls surround it, with the hillside being carved down into cliffs. The only entrance is a pillar from the sea connecting the two bridges with the drawbridge. Past that stands the central courtyard with access to the barracks, armory, and main keep. The Keep normally holds the ruling warlord and his retainers, slaves, and/or servants.   In the Fey Age under Ershi, the Keep was abandoned, with a staircase being built to an underground cavern with a tunnel leading to an underwater entrance. This was a singular room that housed the Naga clan as well as divination pools Ershi used to keep an eye on things.

Docks

The lowest and flattest of the hills, the docks are mostly wooden, with a large number of warehouses and grannies for storage. A single large inn sits on the dock front to accommodate sailors. Wooden walkways also join the stone wall from the dock to provide access to the stone defenses and the Lighthouse at the end of the left. It is this section larger Lyzzura-class ships dock with. A pully system functions on the bridge to the keep due to its steepness.

Village

The middle hill, and the only one with a bridge to the mainland is surrounded by a wooden palisade. A gatehouse at each of the three bridges helps regulate access around the city. Centered around a small covered market, the village is home to around thirty houses, each with a business on the lower floor and housing on the upper.
