High Priest Cornelius Awakener
As with most Awakeners, Cornelius' mind awakened due to the link with his predecessor near his death, being a friendly raccoon that hung around the Statue shire the old priest feed.
Having the memories of all past Awakeners, Cornelius quickly took on the responsibility of High priest of Lacertillia, even before being accepted into the position. The 'election' ended with no contest and Cornelius took on the role officially. Though his life was short he was highly influential, championing several causes including opening the central city to all and forgiveness to the descendants of the outcasts, though no descendants came forward even after full pardons were given.
Cornelius was a practical, cunning creature who often played chess with the various statesmen of Lacertillia. Despite being quite eloquent when wanted, Cornelius barely spoke, often choosing his words for several minutes before speaking. This led to several people thinking he had a stutter, only to realize their mistake when he gave a perfect speech that made Waterbanes weep.
He died five years after awakening.
