Deep in the forests of what once was the Kingdom of Elmsbrae, four unlikely companions meet under mysterious circumstances– apparently within the woods there are strange happenings and the four set out with promise of pay to find and possibly stop whatever is happening before it spreads to towns and civilizations nearby. Little do they know they are in for much, much more than your average dire bear in the forest.
The trickster god Joshua is a cruel deity. Our four odd heroes– Maple Hertzen of Iris Creek, Luin Elmsbrae of the Kingdom of Elmsbrae, Cent Ichaival of the United Nation of Areya, and Akira Azuma of Kyori– all search for their own winnings. Sheer excitement, hope for a lost nation, money and honor to make family proud, and finally an elusive god and a purpose in the world as a whole. These four go through hell together– almost literally. Through pelicans, foxes, mad scientists, emerald castles, tribal gestures, dinosaurs, giant bees, and the deity Joshua himself, they do what they can to survive, but at the cost of compromising the very fabric of reality.
