The Fish and the Swamp

The teleportation ring dumped us in a small town where we bought a barrel of salted fish and some potions.

Then we started going through a swamp. We were taken by talking frogs to their village where we met Tom the Killer again. We would be allowed to go on if we helped them take care of a snake problem.

Said snake problem turned out to be a three-headed titanboa, defeated when Lux allowed himself to be swallowed and dumped a potion of random teleportation directly into its gullet. The snake vanished to no one knows where.

We returned to the frog people village and had a night of celebration. While the rest of us slept, Lux killed Tom the Killer with a frozen banana. The party continued on their way and eventually reached the village that was their original destination. Interviewing the people and animals revealed that something smelling of fish had been killing livestock.

When the party entered the town proper, they stopped in a magic shop and got some speaking stones. There is also a gold-plated statue in the center of the town of Wigglesme-Tigglesme. At some point, Larkspur uses truesight on the people and realizes that they are all goddamn fish people. Trying to tell one of them this doesn’t work- they forget the moment they’re told. They also can’t remember the history of the town- questions about the statue only turn up that it's of a hero. There is also discussion of a new moon festival coming up, where the townsfolk will recite some inscription on the plaque of the statue. The party starts finding fish people wandering around at night, carving strange symbols in the ground and dying on top of them.

We hear rumors of a man who rants about fish people in the hills, and go to visit him. He is also a fish person and is perpetually drunk. He has no answers or useful information.

Another use of truesight reveals that Larkspur and Dane are both cursed. The use of greater restoration cures Larkspur and causes Dane to age backward by five years.

The party tries to steal the plaque off the statue. I can’t remember if it was successful or not, but I think not.

The day of the new moon festival comes. The party burrows under the statue and tries to collapse the ground beneath it. Another group is attempting to stop the creepy ritual happening above ground, trying to avoid killing the people.

We fail.

Wigglesme-Tigglesme reincarnates as the god of chaos in a massive blast of power that scatters the party across the planes.
