Cryptocant

A code used by many groups to communicate in person when non-members are present or in earshot. The code is originally a form of sign language but can also be spoken and written.   A number of organizations and systems that cover a variety of goals and purposes utilize Cryptocant including; Edel International Investigations, Arcanus, The Volur, and The Gladius Bloodline. Secret societies and covert groups such as Edel and Volur use the language to communicate and identify each other, especially when meeting unfamiliar faces. While families like the Gladius developed a natural attraction to the language and use it much like any other form of communication, especially when discussing private matters in front of guests or children.   Most who speak the language learned from others who are proficient in it already, such as recruiters and higher members of their organization or group. In the case of the Gladius family, the language is often learned as a natural second or taught in tutor sessions, it should be noted that friends of the family both adult and children are often taught it as well. While it is possible to self-teach the language, resources are hard to come by and expensive if found, not to mention the mere search for resources can make someone a person of interest.   In the typical scale of rarity, Crypcant is labeled to be at the base rare setting, out of the population percentage only roughly 10% are fluent, and even less can speak at a conversational level or lower. Of course, higher concentrations of speakers can be found where criminal or underground organizations are located, but also small villages scattered throughout Meta and Union have been known to speak old dialects of Cryptocant, with no clear explanation as to how they developed.
