The Scourge of the Sea, Watcher of the Maw, Lord of the West
There is a reason that no ship makes it through The Maw of the Sea, no matter how prepared they are for reef and whirlpool. A reason of tooth and claw, with black flesh as hard as steel plates and breath that will render you down to a puddle in a heartbeat. A reason with a roar that strikes fear into the hearts of men, and wings that carry him through sky or sea without tiring.Although it is far from secret, many men do not know that the Scourge of the Sea lives beyond the maw. To most, the Scourge is a horror story told by sailors. A story that would almost be dismissible, were it not for the occasional shipwreck washing ashore, deep burns and gouging claw marks visible in the ruined remains of the ship.- a retired sailor

Personal history
Morepyan'udavi was born shortly after the administration of The Platinum Law to dragon-kind by Bahamut. He has lived for a millenium and a half, and has grown into an incredibly powerful dragon. Unlike many of the other dragons on the Isle of Fire and Blood, he has not stagnated in the slightest due to his lifestyle. Seeing the fate befalling others of his generation, the black dragon sought to create a life for himself which would allow him to live as (in his opinion) a dragon should.

Motivation
More than anything else, the Scourge has desired to be free of the rules and responsibilities of his position as the Watcher of the Maw. He would never admit this, but it is likely if he were given such freedom, he would continue to carry his duty out, as he greatly enjoys carrying out his duty, mercilessly. He continues to work under the laws of The Platinum Law mostly because his position does afford him a much greater degree of freedom that other dragons on the Isle of Fire and Blood.
