Lalfahmoor

"Make way for the Lalfahmoor, because it comes from door to door. Hope you are not what it is looking for. Lest you make tea for the Lalfahmoor."

— Old Yinvish Proverb

Lalfahmoor, quite a mouthful in any tongue; Is such a thing even real? My research says yes. In fact, quite a few have been encountered in the north, leading me to question why it is such that they are thought of as a myth in the Southlands. I myself have seen one in my time; A long purple slithering thing with far too many legs for one to contend with. In actual fact, I would say it look like a crocodile, one that has been stretched out and given more legs along its flanks. The strangest thing about the creature is, without doubt, the luminous white ord that travels along its back like some sort of marble running through a gutter. From time to time it would shoot out and bang against something nearby; Such as a tree or moss-covered log. The body of the creature would then zoom out to its location, only to turn up a moment later proudly holding its prey. This one was only a baby I would say, at least judging by the descriptions I had gotten of larger creatures out in the north.   Upon encountering something threatening, such as the large Wyvern that flew by. The creature would roll over and take on the shape and texture of an old log. More akin to the way an octopus would rather than any sort of supernatural shapeshifter.   The creature I witnessed seam to be harmless at first. That was until I saw its encounter with a bear. Unlike with the Wyvern, it did not roll over as I would have suspected. Instead, it opened up its mouth at the larger predator and let out an underwhelming hiss. The moment the bear opens up its mouth to let out a roar in retaliation; the orb on the back of the Lalfahmoor shot out into the creature's mouth. After a brief moment, there started a rhythmic humming noise coming from within the bear's body. Before suddenly, it exploded in a shower of light. Leaving only the Crocodile-like monster looking at the orb that had seemingly done all the damage.   I had the feeling that that orb had clearly seen me. Though I must proscribe some intelligence to it as it did not choose to engage me with my arsenal of spells.
All in all, I enjoyed my time studying the Lalfahmoor and would like to go back one day and study it further.

— Abbergail Ammersmith, Mysterious Monsters

"The Tundra beast is long and foul; Like some great hairy green crocodile that has been stretched out after an argument with a plough horse. Igowl and I are to head off and snatch the thing before it can do any more damage to our livestock. Fifteen cows have gone missing in as many days, and I for one am not going to wait around for another few weeks of cattle to end up dead. Will you join me, brothers and sisters? To take down this foul beast that has besmirch our lives? Or will you cower in fear as it takes every last Dasiy and Mary? What is to say it will stop at just cows, you could be the next bests thing to it after all of the large meat has run out."   "So what do you say? Are you with me?"

— Speach given by Agger Branbrik in Winter of 3356 PA

"So I used to keep my Lalfahmoora in a cage; She kept getting out though, so I had to invest in a glass bowl to keep her contained. She didn't grow very big mind you, about the size of a house cat in the end. She always used to play with butterflies whenever they got near her, Not once did she ever try to eat one."   "She is gone now sadly, taken away by the last crusade. We all had to play our part, and she was very valuable. Manage to take down 5 imperial soldiers before they learned to keep their mouth shut. Shame they did mind you, or I would still have her hear today."

Ecology and Habitats

"Ah, I have seen the old ones that lived up there once. Such a shame that your species cut them out from the history books some time ago. I've grown larger now than any I have ever seen. But I hear you can find ones large as leviathan out in the waters beyond these shores."     "What is in it for you anyway? An awful long way to come down hear to ask about long gone monsters. You are going to have to pay quite a price to get out with the information you seek. I trust you have brought the apropreate payment. No? I think you did, just open up your mind. This won't hurt a bit...."

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

"The long creature isn't very bright. It can't see much other than what is right beside it. The Orb thing, however, is ever so clever. I have seen it spot out a ghost at one-hundred paces. It knows what your thinking as well I reckon. At least It knew what I was thinking when I saw the size of the thing."
