Thorvgrimst Wars

Thorvgrimst Wars is a dwarven fortress outpost one day from Hammerfast along the Trade Road towards Thunderdelve. There are two of these, to guard the trade arteries of the Inner Reaches, the Hammerfast Guild Council maintains the fortified outposts. Each lies roughly a day’s travel from Hammerfast at the point where the road narrows into passes. Small but well-defended, these garrisons ensure that danger is detected long before it reaches the gates of Hammerfast. It is currently ruled by the brother and sister Duchess Thova Shieldwarden and Duke Thorv Shieldwarden. Dagfinnr Dayfinder, a dwarven bard, frequents Throvgrimst and the other outposts and has a special affinity to dwarven defenders of Hammerfast since he was an orphan raised in the outposts. Dagfinnr was left as a babe at Thorvrimst after his parents fell during an orc raid. Raised communally by soldiers and sentries, he grew up amid the clang of weapons and the smell of stone-hewn barracks. The defenders taught him their songs of war and lament to keep courage alive. Duchess Thova and Duke Thorv Shieldwarden treat him as a kind of adopted younger brother. Thova admires his keen memory of the old lays, while Thorv relies on him to bolster morale among soldiers. Dagfinnr is not of noble blood, but his voice carries weight in among both nobles and commoners alike. The other outpost is Stonewatch Keep (Trade Road to Sentinel Fortress and Seeker's Reach) guards the approach from the east.
