Uclandian "Reset"

These are the notes on the rebellion, being kept so that I can flesh out the Uclandian Uprising better and thereby understand and write it more effectively.

Structure

Exposition

In response to Empress Voss' increased taxes, harsher demands on the Uclandian people (such as increased production output of chopped wood) as well as her increased cruelty, protests spring up. 
She ordered the protesters arrested and interrogated. They are publicly executed as an example to the rest of the populace. The executions do not have the result she wanted. Handbills appear tacked to public structures, put up under the cover of darkness. 
Unbeknown to her, or the Guards, a group of city merchants approached one of their peers, a seamstress with a reputation for being wise, and pleaded for her counsel. She was known as “Ser”. She told them to meet her at midnight four nights later in the storage basement of the One-Eyed Bear, a nearby tavern. The night they all met in the basement of “The Bear”, as everyone referred to it, was the true birth of the Uprising. Ser rejected any suggestion of commonly known structure or plans, with the logical explanation that if there was no common knowledge of these things, no one person would be able to reveal secrets if captured and tortured. She sent all the merchants away with two tasks only.

• Discreetly enlist those who were sympathetic to the cause of overthrowing the self-declared Empress Voss.
• Send any hunter they felt could be discreet & want to help feed the people to Ser’s shop. Then send word to her in the form of orders. She would take care of the rest.

This is only the roots of the rebellion.

Resolution

The Rebellion has overthrown Empress Voss, found The Rightful Heir, Ilmaari Riika, and declared her their Empress. But she has other ideas. She has decided there will be a new governmental structure.

New Government

Rightful heir (Ilmaari Riika) declares new Era (the 4th) - to be recorded as RD - return of dragons
Ruler = will be Suvreen “The Suvreen rules over all of Uclandia, the nation - the kansat” 
Provincial Ministers = Tanasteh (title)
Advisor to the Tanasteh = Voja (title)
Duke/Duchess = (title) Bestowed by the Suvreen, or inherited through family. A duchy is a territory ruled by a duke or duchess. Addressed as “Your Grace”
Barons/Baroness = (title) Bestowed by the Suvreen, or inherited through family. Ranks higher than a Knight or Guard. Addressed as Lord or Lady, children of Barons & Baronesses are addressed as “Honourable Master or Mistress”

Components

Goals

The Uprising has 2 goals;

1. Find the Rightful Heir - while at the same time ...
2. Overthrow and remove Empress Azura Voss from the throne of Uclandia

Stakes

If the rebels fail to overthrow and remove Empress Voss she will make the lives of the common folk of Uclandia even more hellish. She has already demonstrated a willingness to murder the people if they oppose her in any way. She will continue to arrest, assassinate, and torture anyone she sees as a threat or a drain on her wealth.
If the rebels fail to find The Rightful Heir, there will be no one ready to install once Voss is removed from power. And there MUST be someone else ready to step in, or the social fabric, as well as the economic future, of Uclandia will fray even further. That way lies more chaos.
For the safety of Vahaava Ri, and all of Uclandia, there must be a rightful heir!

Relations

Allies

The Uprising (also known as the Rebellion) does have allies among the nobility, but they are few. For the most part, the Nobles support Empress Voss, because she has promised them more money, power, land, more titles or more slaves. 
A change in the social structure would mean a drastic change to the lives they already have, or desire. 
This list of allies will likely always be under construction as allies make themselves known to the rebellion, or turn on them.

Adversaries

Obviously, Empress Voss is the rebellion's biggest adversary, as is her brother Duke Redmoss, all of the Guards & The Shadow Guard.
