Raven Zephyr Character in Uclandia | World Anvil

Raven Zephyr

Raven was an abandoned baby, discovered by a Guard’s Cook. Because a raven flew over the camp repeatedly on the day of her discovery, she was given the name Raven and carries the last name of the woman who found her.     As a child, the Guard saw her as a sort of little sister and trained her as her physicality and skill progressed. She was also trained in the domestic arts by the cook.     When she was 12, and serving at a Castle function, she overheard a whispered plan to assassinate the Emperor. She told a Commander of the Guard, who informed his superiors, and the plot was foiled. Recognizing the benefit of having such a spy that others would overlook or ignore, the Commander sought her out the next day & praised her for her cunning and bravery, then asked her if she would like to learn the ways of the Shadow Guard, in secret. Of course, she agreed. He taught her all he knew about surveillance, disguises, lip-reading, manipulation, and getting others to open up.     When she turned 16, he encouraged Raven to enlist with the Shadow Guard, promising her his support.     As an adult, Raven was a Shadow Guard, an elite soldier trained in deadly hand-to-hand combat, marksmanship with the crossbow and throwing knives, reconnaissance, languages, strategic planning, and enemy proliferation.     When she accidentally encountered her commanding officer in a compromising position with another man, she was framed for his murder.

ETHICS AND VALUES

Raven is fiercely loyal to her allies and the cause she believes in. She places the welfare of the empire and her comrades above personal gain or safety. Her unwavering commitment inspires trust and respect among those who follow her.   Honor, hers especially, is important to her.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONTRIBUTORS

Being raised in the castle by cooks & taught by the Commander of the Shadow Guards, taught her the importance of Team over Individual   (Many thanks to MythCross for his graphics wizardry, without whom Raven's portrait would not have been possible!)
