Transference of Immortality

Manifestation

Immortals When someone of an immortal status exists, such as a gods or demigods, their power can be taken when they are on the material planed. Whether it be given freely by the immortal or through their death in combat. When an immortal is slain in battle by someone with a weapon of certain renown or power, the energies or divine essence that empower the immortal are released from their vessel and permeates the body of the one who dealt the final blow. 
Effects of Transference While this law can bestow the blessing of immortality to the recipient, they must be able to resist the awesome power of the immortal's essence. For if the body is not worthy or prepared, it can cause the recipient's vessel to also rupture. When the power is transferred through a ritual this side effect is not a common.
Known Events This law has manifested before when the hero Illiana Theabrook struck the final blow to the Giant King and later on the final blow against Xelinar, a fallen god. Through these two separate events of these energies permeating her body, a mortal ascended to immortality.
Although it has not happened in recorded history, immortals can perform a ritual to pass their essence to a successor of their choosing. This ritual called the Tenets of Immortality. While can require some preparation, the ritual is based more so in the immortal focusing their intent on the successor and the successor being a willing candidate.

Localization

Of the few times this has happened, although it is not a requirement, killing blows were struck against these immortals over magical ley lines. When an immortal's vessel destroyed, the essence that departs their vessel leaves an opening. This opening or wound draws in magical energy from the ley lines, this occurrence can accelerate the release of the immortal's essence. 
Although, if too much energy from a magical ley line permeates the immortal's body, the end results historically have led to a destructive build up that results in the destruction of the immortal's vessel.
