Council of Vecna

For those who are looking for even more creative ideas for even more alternate versions of the Council of Vecna, I might suggest looking to other forms of popular media. Mortal Kombat has characters like Shang Tsung, Dragon Prince with Viren and even the Lich from Adventure Time. All of these characters seem to have been inspired by or been reflections of each other in some form or way.   The Council of Vecna is very much inspired by The Council of Richards from Marvel Comics. So if you end up coming up with wacky or fun ideas for alternate versions of Vecna, all the more to try it and have fun with it.

Structure

The group is headed by Vecna, the Arch Lich. From the pinnacle of his power when he resided on Oerth, before his destruction at the hands of Kas. He wields the arcane near the power of a demi god and is immortal. He has a collection of powerful magic items and artifacts. In the centuries he has been alive Vecna has amassed an empire, a gigantic following and a vast wealth of knowledge. 'The Lich' has tried to prevent his death at the hands of Kas over the years through the manipulation of time and the Wish spell, but to no avail. If Vecna can change this seemingly fixed point, then what could truly stop him in the future?   'The Lich' wears a dark green robe, similar to his younger self, and atop it a black mantle across the shoulders with a large black collar. This Vecna has peering eyes and sees past deceipt of others. If looks could kill, this Vecna would and does.   The next in charge is known as the Student of the Serpent. 'The Student' is formidable as most arch wizards from the early days of Oerth, due to his training under one of the 'Brethren', Mok'Slyk, an ancient creature who was a physical manifestation of the arcane on Oerth. This version of Vecna is near the beginning of his time and was told by Mok'Slyk that he would become ruler of the multiverse.   This version of Vecna appears as a man in the 30-40 year range. He has shoulder length black hair, bright yellow eyes with circular black irises and wears well fitted robes coloured a verdant green. He carries a black staff on his person and when he smiles, it sends a shiver down your spine.   There was at one time another version of himself, a puppet, a man known as Halmadar the Cruel. This version acts as an agent controlled by Vecna, due to him grafting on the artifacts Hand and Eye of Vecna. This Vecna will take vocal and telepathic orders from any version of Vecna, almost as if acting like a doll. When in seperate time periods or worlds from 'The Lich' or 'The Student', he is mentally controlled by 'The Deity'. Interestingly enough, Halmadar only answers to the name 'Vecna'.   This version of Vecna is a Quasi-Lich. Not made by the formulae that an arcanist would traditionally use to transition to lich-hood. Halmadar transformed over time after being connected to the Hand and Eye of Venca. Halmadar has pale skin and appears almost as a skeleton with skin. This version of Vecna wears torn and ripped black robes that cover his body from the elements during his travels.   Lesser Deity Vecna, a version of Vecna that made himself into a full deity by absorbing Iuz and broke a hole in time and space to Sigil. This version of Vecna is what many would consider his 'most present time form' and uses his godlike power to assist the younger and alternate versions of himself. Whether it be giving them boons or blessings to assist them in battle. He will also try to gate any of them back to his godly plane of Cavitius to avoid them being killed.   Vecna 'The Deity' appears as a hovering skeleton with dark purple and blue torn fabrics decorating his body. A green flame rests in his left eye socket and his right hand is the only part of his body covered in muscle and torn skin. The Deity does not walk or touch the floor whatsoever, he will hover or fly.   The Scientist, is a version of Vecna from Eberron. This version of Vecna is quite different from the existences of the others. This Vecna reigned terror for near a century before they disappeared. They disappeared themself into the Negative Energy plane and reformed their body. Changing their appearance and name for a time to avoid detection by those who sought to destroy them. Eventually they made contact with 'The Deity' through their connection with the Negative Energy plane and was transported to Cavitius. This version of Vecna hopes to reach some form of godhood through their dealings with 'The Deity' and return home to Eberron and claim their home country for themselves. Much to the 'The Student's' dismay, 'The Scientist' only answers to the 'The Lich' or 'The Deity'.   This version of Vecna appears gender neutral with no major discernable signs of their previous identity. They appear to have softer cheeck bones, but the eyes retain a dull yellow with black cat like irises. Their left hand appears to have black veins a few inches past the wrist and into the forearm. The clothing upon them is a dark purple, with bloches of black and gold specs, which almost makes it look like a sky from another world.   Finally, the lowest of the group, Kas the Punished. This is a version of Kas who has was created with the sole purpose of protecting and serving all versions of Vecna. Kas was created by the 'The Deity' as an act of ego and reminder of previous failures. This man has one thought going through his hollowed out mind, "I must protect my creator, at cost of life, limb and soul".   'The Punished' wears black armor and carries a magical longsword on his person. If someone were to peer into his black eyes, they would find nothing. Nothing, except the one command that is whispered to him. Additionally, all the cloned bodies of Kas the Punished have the exact same equipment and appearance.

Assets

This organization has access to nearly anything throughout Vecna's history. Soldiers from his empire on Oerth, Cultists throughout the ages who tried to bring Vecna into godhood and magical artifacts that could rival nearly anything an adventuring party could obtain as well.

History

While time has passed for generations of citizens across many worlds in the multiverse, Vecna has seen time turn through his eyes and he has seen nearly all there is. As time passed, he noticed something peculiar appear...black obelisks. As an arcanist with knowledge pass to him from Mok'Slyk, one of the brethren, deciphering the usefullness of the obelisks came within moments. Manipulation of every school of magic to bend time. He took one of the obelisks that he found and cast a ritual with the magical stone at the center. This ritual destroyed nearly every other obelisk in existance.   Now with power of the obelisk consolidated, he would use what the Weavers left behind for his last grand scheme. Vecna would accomplish what the Serpent told him so many years ago. Vecna would fufill Mok'Slyk's prophecy and attain complete control over the known multiverse...

For the ideal future, as it was fortold...
