Walzbin
A Rebellious Offshoot
Walzbin was the far reaches of the Inveran Empire in its early days, and became a gathering ground for the dissenters to the war and the Inveran regime. After the apparition of the Coilleskog, the area became more autonomous, and broke away fully just before the forest completed its growth to the sea, fully separating the great power from the smaller territory.
History
Walzbin's area has been inhabited for its entire history, as the land is fertile enough to accommodate almost all forms of life.
Early History
There have been numerous tribes that called the area of Walzbin home, and most were nomadic during their prime as the winters would drive much of the game to the South, and summers would reverse this process. There were few wars among clans during much of this time as resources were plenty and encounters were few. Sometime in the 1000s RC, the Vonteg tribe had a population boom which sparked some conflict with their neighbors. These conflicts were won largely by the Vonteg's superior population and they grew to be a major regional power which was left unthreatened for their supremacy. It was at this time, around 890 RC that Eliser was born to the heads of the tribe and around 870 RC when she began her Iterun.
After Eliser left, the Vontegs were left without a leader when the previous chiefs passed, and, having waited for their daughter, left the clan completely without a direction. The ensuing power struggle completely engulfed the Vontegs, and while they were left alone, the clan fractured into enough pieces that they held no more power than any other tribe in their region.
Conquest by Inverus
It was in that environment, where many of the tribes that were well-prepared were cowed, and the Vonteg shattered, that the Inveran Empire gained enough power to expand itself significantly and, having just been beaten back at great cost in the East, began to conquer southward. The land that would become Brylus was less inhabited and offered little in the way of a barrier for the Graynor (the area that is now Walzbin). Inverus swept across the region, carving a path through the woods that kept those species at home there off-balance when defending, and broke what little resistance the humans there had to offer. The South of Graynor never quite surrendered but the area was vanquished sufficiently for Inveran apparatus to move in comfortably.
Rebellion
Throughout the occupation of Walzbin, there were several rebellions against the Inveran Empire. Of these the first, second, and sixth are the most well-remembered and most impactful. The eighth revolt happened to coincide with the appearance of the Coilleskog, which gave the upper hand to the revolutionaries, and cut off military aid to many of the regiments sent to fight initially. The continued growth of the Coilleskog led to an unofficial independence around the year 100 AC. Inverus maintains the technical claim over the land of Walzbin though it is broadly understood, at least in Walzbin, that any actions to enforce such a claim would be met with overwhelming violence.
Modern History
Walzbin is governed by a loose group of chiefs of clans which make unofficial agreements and rules that most in the land abide by and are enforced socially.
Demography
Walzbin is a barely majority-human state, and has a great variance of species within its border. Due to the densely-forested nature of Walzbin, many of the woodland humanoid species live there, including most Wood Elves, Firbolgs, and most Forest Gnomes. The Wood Elves and Forest Gnomes tend to live in settlements together which end up with larger populations than equivalent primarily Human towns in their areas. Firbolgs are often somewhat separated due to their close association with Baladen and thereby Elsha's more chaotic elements.
