City of Astea

The City of Astea is the capital of the small island run autonomously by the Stantons of the coast of the Regency It is a historically grown city owned and ruled by the Stantons, a noble family that works out of the reach of the Regency. Now sitting here for multiple long generations already the settlement has grown to the most important supplier of ironwood to the regency. The docks, filled with trade goods and lumber, are by far the busiest of places inside this huge town, though with the main worship of Altaric, Scion of Preservation, having his place in Astea even the Grand Library and its school is a commonly visited place. World singers and Bards from all over the world travel to Astea to tell their stories which then get recorded by the local clerics into the library records.   In the midst of all that the largest landmark of Astea is by far the ginormous tree standing tall in the middle of town. Its roots follow streets and roads all the way out of town to the adjacent ironwood forest.

Demographics

Among the mostly human population you also find a good number of halflings, gnomes and half-elves. Some few pure elves can also be found in the city, though they mostly keep to themselves deep in the ironwoods of Astea.   The deeper you go inside the city, the more wealth you can find generally. The prestigious school adjacent to the Grand Library pulls all kinds of wealthy parents with their kids to Astea, to be taught by the Clerics of Altaric and because of its good trade with the Regency even most of those living near the docks are not bad off.   The Island and its Captial are mostly known for trading lumber so most are employed towards helping with those things. This includes people working in sawmills and lumber camps, druids charged with regrowth as well as traders and merchants with their ships. The Grand Library to Altaric also pulls a lot of people to Astea so teachers and the clerics to Altaric are known and respected all over the land.
