Servants of the Buried Flame

Ever since the discovery of The Phobos Caldera, The Servants of the Buried Flame have been working tirelessly to excavate the conduit and remove all ice and stone blocking the path downward.
The Servanthood believe that The Phobos Caldera is the path to the pure creations, made by The Son. So they have ammassed a large army of laborers and slaves in an attempt to please their god, and give him access to the mythological world he had created, and all of his lost children.

Structure

The Servants of the Buried Flame follow a very strict heirarchy. All priests, bishops and followers, regardles of their civilian positions, answer, ultimately, to the Vicar of Flame. Every level of the Servanthood answers to the rank directly above them.

History

The Servants of the Buried Flame can trace the origins of their sect all the way back to the Untakiaan Empire. However, those records are sealed and only the Vicar of Flame has authority to read them.

Cosmological Views

The Servants of the Buried Flame believe that it was The Son, and not The Father, who laid the foundations of the planet. They believe the Son created the true star of the heavens. Not the sun which lights the sky, but the sun which powers the world from within. In the teachings of thier holy scriptures Kut'Puulo, it was The Son, who built the first great fire, and forged the first creatures from iron, and tempered them with his own blood, but The Father became jealous of The Son's world, and encased it in a shell of stone, cutting The Son off from his creations and causing him great pain by removing his ability to commune with his own flesh and blood. They believe that The father then created a sorry replacement for the whole family to share in dominion over.

Tenets of Faith

All life exists as a mockery of true creation. All pain in the universe is caused by the hubris of The Father. All living creatures must submit to the will of The Son. All existence yearns for the rebirth of true creation.

Political Influence & Intrigue

The Skok nations overwhelmingly worship The Son, and follow the tenents of The Church of the Dark Flame. However, in recent centuries, The Servant of the Buried Flame have been gaining in political power. Their priests and Exarchs have been slowly infiltrating the courts of the Skok nations. Ever since the appearance of a wandering traveler from the south, showed the exalted priest Ástmar the location of The Phobos Caldera, the efforts of the Servants have increased. Massive amounts of wealth and resources have been demanded by the Servanthood from all Skok nations, and even some nations from the southern lands.
