His Hojan Confederate Majesty's Army

His Hojan Confederate Majesty's Army (HHCMA), in short, the Hojan Army or simply the Army.
Its job is anything from garrison duty, in the various King's settlements, to waging war. The Army is also charged with patrolling the Confederate Roads and in case maintaining those or better making sure they are maintained.

The HHCMA is made up of its core, a number of active, standing units. Those can be complemented by order of the King, with units of citizens and in case of the direst crisis any and all people able to fight.

Every settlement within the Confederation has to provide a certain number of troops to the His Hojan Confederate Majesty's Military Forces (HHCMMF or short CMMF), depending on the size of the settlement. This Vassalage is subject to change and will be set for 25 years by the coucil and the King. The 12 currently recognized cities each provide 2 full Banners.

Structure

The army is divided into Banners, Pennants and Tables.

A Table is literally that, the 12 soldiers that sit at one table. Each Table has a Tablehead to look after it. The Tabled (short for Tablehead which has not been used for the last 230 years) is a member of the Table.

Six Tables make up a Pennant.
A Pennant has a separate commanding soldier called the Starm (another rank that has lost its original form of Strong Arm, from the need to hold up the pennant during battle), who normally has two Left-Hands assigned to him. The two Left-Hands or often just Hand, are below the Starm but above the Tableds in the hierarchy and support the Starm in commanding the Pennant.

Seven Pennants make up a Banner.
However, one Pennant is the Banner-Pennant, tasked with security for the Bannermaster, with the logistical operation and supply for the Banner and with special assignments for it like courier service, scouting etc.
The Starm of this Banner-Pennant is called the Banner-Starm and is almost always the second in command of the Banner. Accordingly, one of the Left-Hands is called Banner-Hand and takes over regular command of the Pennant.

A number of Banners can be formed into a larger formation called a Cluster and it is commanded by a Clustermaster. In most cases, such a formation would have one to three Cluster-Pennants for any tasks needed to be done on the Cluster level.
These Cluster-Pennants are normally not part of the regular formation of any Banner.

Culture

Every army has its own customs, traditions and rules which are there to enforce an esprit de corps as well as maintain the hierarchical structure.

The Hojan Army uses the removal of the headwear and a bow as a salute when not in the field. In the field, it is just that bow.

In the last decades, it has changed slightly. As headwear is used less and less, the salute has, by custom been reduced to the bow, even if the old form is still official regulation

"For those who can't" official Motto.

"March when you'r ordered, fight when you have to, eat and sleep when you can!" Inofficial motto of the Hojan Army
