The Manscinium Republic

The Manscinium Republic, the first republic of men. The Manscinium Republic is a world power despite its lack of size and natural resources due to its strategic positioning, rich cultural history and being on a number of important economic trade routes. It is centered around Tsoria's largest city, Manscinium - City , the historic capital of the now dead Manscine Empire.   While they are not the first Republic in history, the record does reflect that they may be the first republic of humanity and many are watching to see if they succeed or fail in this great experiment.   In its first decade, it selected the General Darvus Morellius to rule as Dictator to allow for swift action in responding to external threats and ensuring a strong military presence as the young nation found its feet. This proved effective and allowed them to stave off multiple attempts to take the city, including the 21 month siege of the city that occurred just after they declared their independence when Imperial Forces tried to retake the city after they retook the nearby city of Aemeti, which stood at the other end of the Manscine Canal. After 21 months of fighting the Empire signed the truce of Manscinium at the behest of the newly return Empress in order to save the army undertaking the siege from being surrounded by rebel forces.   General Morellius knew that people didn't want the dictatorship to continue after the term was concluded after the years of peace and so, to ensure his dynasties power in the republic he positioned his son as a desirable candidate for the Premier of the Republic in the coming council election.
