Major Races

Major Races are those which have independently achieved FTL (faster than light) space travel. Those races that have often have ended up dominating those around them, which lends some support to the idea that they might be more important than other species/cultures that didn't discover FTL travel (and were thus often contacted, rather than contacting). It also disqualifies numerous species/cultures that reverse engineered FTL drives from discoveries of wrecks, Ancients relics or other sources.
