Droyne

A winged, bipedal omnivorous race averaging around a metre tall, and lightly built. Droyne are found on widely scattered worlds throughout Charted Space, and like, Humaniti are thought to have been spread by the Ancients. The Droyne are now regarded as a Major Race despite relatively few documented instances of jump capable Droyne starships - it is evident that the Droyne jump drive is of indigenous design and is not based on the jump drive technology of any other Major Race.
Droyne are notable for their caste system, and their almost total lack of aggression and curiosity. Known Droyne populations live in seemingly low tech societies at an almost subsistence level, and seem to have no interest in expansion or even what is out there in the rest of the universe. However, when they need them, they can rapidly manufacture devices of high tech level that are compact, efficient and extremely reliable, up to and including starships. Droyne technology is notable for have an organic feel to it.

Droyne are upright and bipedal, with two forelimbs and a pair of semi-vestigial wings.

Droyne have 3 sexes - an egg donor, an activator and a bearer.
They are oviparous.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Droyne are technically omnivorous, but most encountered Droyne are almost exclusively vegetarian.

Droyne behaviour is closely tied to caste.
