Detracta Lapides Condition in Tritanix 3 | World Anvil

Detracta Lapides (Dee-track-tah lap-ides)

Detracta Lapides is more commonly known as Chipping Stones. It is caused by eating moss. The moss is safe to be around but causes a person’s gemstones to chip away and fall off when ingested. The moss makes the gemstones very brittle and fragile. No other species are affected by this, so many animals eat moss and end up just fine. The only species affected are the Gemclops. It is in no way life-threatening, or even harmful in any way at all. A person can get over it in a month at the longest. It is not a very common ailment, seeing as how many people don’t try eating moss. It mainly affects young children that don’t know any better than to shove moss into their mouths. Not many adults suffer from this illness, however, some people eat moss just to see what will happen, or maybe out of a dare. Those people learn that if you eat moss, you will get Chipping Stones. No one has found a cure for it, but no one really needs to. Most cases last around 2-3 weeks, with no cases going past a full month. Many worried parents take their kids to the doctor whenever they see this happen. They will tell the other parents in the neighborhood about it, just to avoid worrying about it. Schools will also warn parents about it so they will not only avoid worrying about their children but also keep them from eating moss. Many children have eaten moss at least once, and it always makes the parents very uneasy. Luckily, many parents keep a close eye on their children, so they always know if their kid does something they shouldn’t.
