The Court of Hate

Leader- The Mad Hater

Seat of Power- Lindestheas

Domain- The court's domain is that of grudges, spite and madness.

Social Structure- The Court only accepts those whose hatred has become obsession. In recent years their numbers have swelled with the victims of the War with the Confederacy. These victims tend to hate the Confederacy, specific generals or weapons they employ.

To test this hatred, a higher member of the court performs a ritual to the gods to reveal how deep the hatred runs. They build a series of eight piles of wood around a perspective member. Then the examiner calls out to the fey gods to show how deep their hatred runs. An induvial who truly hates something, to wish the vilest of fates upon their fixation, might have enough to light one or two of the piles aflame. Only one member has ever managed to light all eight, the Mad Hater himself. A feat that immediately elevated him to rule the Court

Traditions/taboos-

Despite their nature, there are strong taboos against fighting amongst fellow members of the court. One must not act against a member, lest they be exiled if they are lucky, or become the target for the members pent up hatred if not

Each member must hold at least one deep hatred in their heart. Should they even forgive or loose that hate, they are exiled.

There are few things that the court will not accept their members to hate, but they do exist. The include fellow members, tea, chickens, The Fey Gods, hate itself or the League of Iamel-zed.

Relations to other Courts-

The Court of Wonders: While there is some animosity against the court, as there is with many things, The Mad Hater seems to have come to some sort of understanding with Black Alis. There is also a shared fondness for Tea which binds the two

Dealing with the Oligarchy- The Court of Hate despises the Oligarchy for its hypocrisy, cruelty, and refusal to acknowledge the pain it causes. Yet, it holds a grim respect for House Grudge, whose obsession with oath-keeping and retribution makes them spiritual cousins. Some believe secret pacts exist between members of the two, with secret books of grudges being exchanged.

The Court sometimes offers sanctuary to Serfs and Commoners from the Oligarchy whose pain and anger have grown too great to be borne. These are forged into new instruments of hate, bound by blood and vow.
