Moonthread
Moonthread is a rare, silvery filament said to be spun only under the light of a full moon and made from the dreams of trees but is most commonly harvested from the dream-silk cocoons of lunar moths. The material is impossibly thin, often invisible to the naked eye, yet stronger than steel and capable of channeling immense magical potential.
It shimmers faintly in darkness, pulsing with subtle colors that shift according to the phase of the moon. It is cold to the touch, and reacts to thoughts and dreams, sometimes twisting or tightening in response to fateful choices nearby.
Most famously, Moonthread is the material used in the The Tapestry of Chrone-Norns, where it forms an ever-shifting record of fate’s design, and in the story of The Lantern Bride where it was used to weave lanterns to inmate the power of the full moon.
It is prized by prophets, witches, and gods. And feared by those who understand what it might reveal.
