Moonband

Ruling house: House Nacioun

Great house: Technically under House Gha'ard but operate independently through a carefully woven web of diplomacy, subterfuge and ant military invasion likely to prove more costly than expected

Other Houses: House Nerr- a cadet house of House Nacioun that was founded by a long lost member that was only discovered by accident in when a member of House Stry was checking the Record Of Lineages. For unkown reasons, he pledged his newly founded house to the service of Nacioun and Moonband

Population: 75000 in the main city with a further 75000 located in the surrounding area. Mixed races and nearly any can be found here, though relatively small number of fey races

Notable features:

The Great Eastern Lighthouse- a massive lighthouse created during the reign of a previous house. It is said to be able to light up the area for miles around it is rather ornate in design and was originally intended as a show of power, a statement of "here we are and here we'll stay" from a house that has been forgotten by the chaotic shifting of olicarachal politics

The Nacioun manor- a strange construction, consisting of two halves. The first is large, ancient and proud while the second stands in contrast being small, subtle and humble.

The Moonhaven Port- one of three major ports on the eastern side of the continent and nestled in a natural bay, Moonhaven Port is known for the cast amount of commerce passing through each day. Many sea based merchants land here, after trading with the Lauge or even the occupied zones of the Confederation, and trade with the merchants running the inland trade routes. The name originates from the way the moon reflects in the bay at night, with the oddly calm waters making it seem like the moon itself is taking refuge in the harbor

The Brair-Wild- The deadly jungle that surrounds much of this and the neighboring provinces. It is said to hide no end of deadly beasts, ancient ruins and strange magics.

Culture: Moonband is startlingly open by Oligarchy standards. Its cities buzz with art, music, and ideas from across the sea. Serfs and commoners are treated with dignity rarely seen elsewhere, and while official noble hierarchies remain intact, House Nacioun has been known to quietly elevate exceptional individuals from lower ranks into positions of real power. This often inspires a level of loyalty from the serfs but many nobles of other houses whisper dark things about this practice and the threat it represents to their way of life.

Economy: Moonband’s economy thrives on diversity. Its tropical climate allows the cultivation of valuable exports such as cocoa, kola nuts, and jungle fruits. Moonhaven Port supports a robust trade in both legal and less-than-legal goods, including discreet exports of alchemically refined poisons sourced from the Briar-Wild’s frogs and snakes. The real heart of the economy, however, is its artisans. Many are secretly serfs rather than commoners, with no noble titles but hands trained to perfection. Rumor has it that House Nacioun quietly smuggles skilled laborers and thinkers from other provinces, protecting them in exchange for their contributions, and giving them an unheard of chance to climb the social ladder. Or at least that is the appearance.

History: Moonband was once a forgotten frontier, a wild coast where minor houses came to disappear. But House Nacioun saw potential. With diplomacy sharper than blades and deals inked in secret, they forged alliances with distant powers, leaned into the chaos of their rivals, and turned Moonband into a beacon of quiet defiance. When House Gha’ard sought to press their claim, they found a province with no easy openings. Walls of jungle, citizens loyal through love not fear, and a diplomatic storm waiting for the first dropped sword.

Over time, Moonband became a whispered symbol among serfs and reformers. A place where dreams didn’t die in chains. And beneath the surface, those whispers grow louder every year.
