Basic Information

Anatomy

Humans would describe the Feln as feline or cat-folk. Height: 5'0" - 5'5". Usually slim and lithe, some Feln colonies have developed broader builds, specifically shoulders. Some have manes of varying lengths. Common fur patterns/colourings include: bengal tiger, solid colour, tabby, and calico. Can live to ~80 standard years old.

General Features

• Size: You are a Medium creature.
• Speed: Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
• Languages: You know the common trade language, one of the Feln languages (choose from Proper Felnagese and Rustic Felnagese), and any other language of your choice..
• Ability Point Increase: Increase your Dexterity stat by 2. Increase you Wisdom stat by 1.
• Darkvision: You have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Sibran

• Northern Born: Hailing from the rugged, icy north of Tria, you are naturally adapted to cold climates, as described in chapter 5 of the Dungeon Master’s Guide.

Homeworlder

• Vehicle Proficiency: More used to vehicle travel than personal locomotion, choose one vehicle proficiency (either land, water, or air/space)

Outer Colonist

• Cat's Claws: Because of your claws, you have a climbing speed of 20 feet. In addition, your claws are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

Growth Rate & Stages

Feln can typically live up to ~80 years old. Their "kitten" stage usually lasts about 3 years. Childhood is from 4-11 years. Adolescence is between 12-17 years. Adulthood typically lasts from 18 years till approximately 60 years when most Feln would be considered seniors.

History

The Feln are a race of bipedal, feline creatures and are one of the most prevalent species within the known galaxy. In fact, the United Feln Federal Regions (UFFR) is one of the current galactic superpowers, alongside the Galactic Coalition, although different in a great many respects. While the Coalition is a multi-species, largely democratic galactic government, the UFFR is a monolithic, single-species administration governed out of the Feln homeworld, Oshada. A space-faring species for nearly two millenia, the UFFR boasts not only colonies within its home system, but also upwards of 30 identified colony worlds across known space. Despite their predilection for expansion to new worlds, the UFFR is quite conservative in their technological development, especially in the colony worlds, and idealizes the simple, often agrarian life in most of its public relations material as well as the glorification of manual labour and the might of the common cat in the more industrialized cities. Automation is very much shied away from.
The UFFR is fundamentally a collectivist government. Feln colonies will send the vast majority of their acquired resources back to the homeworld of Oshada for further cataloging, processing, and finally redistribution around Oshada or back out to the colonies. Often colony worlds will specialize in one or two exports unique to their planet and devote their remaining workforce to military, food production, and other basic services.
There is a lot of competition for colonizable worlds and resources across the known galaxy, primarily between the UFFR and the Galactic Coalition. While this competition has not escalated to open war between the two largest galactic powers, it is an open secret that the UFFR has funded guerrilla groups both on Independent worlds as well as more fringe Coalition worlds. Over the last 200 years, a number of Independent planets have been folded into the UFFR umbrella even if they are primarily a non-Feln population. There have also been a couple worlds that have managed to break away from the UFFR to become Independently governed planets, either under their own power of sometimes with similar, openly-secretive support from the Coalition. The most notable example of this would be the world of Tria.
