There is one food in all the lands that everyone can recognise and everyone equally avoids if they can - the (in)famous garden gruel.
The kingdom doesn't know famine or starvation, because there is always something that can be found crawling in the dirt, usually something small and slimy and snail-like if you are lucky. Tiny and with many legs, if you are not. But let's be honest, whoever is poor enough that they have to eat this, has never met luck once in their sad little life.
It is a soup-like-porridge-like thing, with ubiquous colour, usually somewhere between the shades of beige and brown, depending what exactly did you put into it, but it's best not to know, really.
The most nutritious types are the ones made out of juicy garden snails, that can give it almost a feel of a nice filling warm meal. If you can keep it in your stomach by not thinking about what you are actually eating. Because the answer is snails, and many people cannot handle that. Which is why there is no people dying of famine, but many people dying of stupidity by not being able to appreciate this staple of the commoners cuisine.
Anyways, many households have tips and tricks how to make such an emergency meal last long or at least become more apetising. But the best way is to find something else to eat. Nothing fuels you like a good motivation to find something better to eat.
