Tales of the Celestials - Book

This book is the sole remaining copy of the mysterious manuscript which documented the lives and existence of the mysterious beings known as Celestials. This copy is kept at the Kersar Academy of Magical Arts in its library, although no one knows who brought it there.
Supposedly, there were once five of these. If one was destroyed, the information in it was transferred immediately to the others. It kept happening until there was one left. But they were all said to be destroyed years ago, during a time when these tales might have been weapons against their subjects.

History

The origin of this book is unknown. There are no dates or authors listed anywhere in the book. According to legend, there were once five copies, each only holding a portion of the knowledge contained therein. The magic on the books divided and transferred information in every copy should one be destroyed. Four out of the five collections of the Tales were supposedly destroyed during or following the Celestial War. This copy is believed to be the last in existence and therefore holds all the information the others held. It has only been found in the library every few years, and only ever by accident. Considering the library's magic, this is not a great surprise.

Significance

According to legend, Tales of the Celestials was not written but simply created. Every time a new Celestial emerged, the books would include their story, documenting the important events in their life. Each time a Celestial did something worthy of note, the Tales would add it to the chapter. The Tales

were perfect, with no detail left out and no secret kept hidden. For this reason, many Celestials sought to remove the books from existence to protect their pasts and hide their weaknesses. With the knowledge the Tales possess, one could defeat almost any Celestial simply by knowing their story, and so all copies except this one were destroyed. Since most believe Celestials to be a myth, its danger has decreased but its historic value has not.

Description

The Tales of the Celestials is an unexpectedly small volume. Measuring nine and a half inches high by six and a quarter inches wide and a little less than an inch and a half thick, it is bound in soft, dark blue fabric and impressed with gold lettering. Time has worn away the words on the spine and faded the words on the cover, but the book is in remarkably good shape considering its unknown age. The paper is old but still thick and crisp, the lettering on the pages is easily visible, and the binding is still in perfect condition.

Secret Knowledge

Unknown to anyone else in the world, the Tales of the Celestials are not entirely true. Several stories, including that of Celosia and the Commander, Lady Spider, and those about the Celestial War, have been modified without anyone's knowledge. The truth of these stories has been hidden from all, but may one day be brought to light.
