Syzygy

A linear city of three distinct settlement hubs, connected by scaffolds that span the southern branch of the Moribund Vitalis. A conjoined city of philosophizers, so named for the physical and theoretical positioning of the distinct communities and the ideologies of the residents. To the northwest, lies Conclave, home to those of devout religious belief and faith. To the southeast, Assembly, residence of lifelong students to the arcane arts. In between, Apartisan, a commune of neutrality; Arbitrators who mediate academic and inter-theologian squabbles and discussions.   A scholarly city, built with the premise of furthering the understanding of the two oppositional schools of divine and arcane. Originally built with the two settlements, Conclave and Assembly, separated by nothing more than the river flowing between them, it was soon realized that a third neutral party would be of benefit to help mediate and bridge the differences between the two polarizing philosophies. Named for, and situated with the essential example of its name sake in mind, the eclipse phenomenon was the first and remains the most debated topic within the city to this day: priests to the west claiming it is work of the divine The Favored, mages in the east explaining it as calculated astrological occurrence, and the naturalists in the middle, not caring for the causality, but only its significance.   While home to people with divisive ideologies, as they are generally an enlightened society, rarely does violence result from the constant inability to agree on almost any topic. Debates are held on a frequent basis between the two parties to encourage the free exchange of ideas, as well as relieve the building tension and pressure in a controlled scenario. Those residing in the Conclave are known to engage in heated debates and altercations amongst themselves in a much higher frequency, arguing over their hierarchal importance and oppositional doctrines. These grand scale scheduled parleys are only routine after a legendary occurrence in history that ended with both sides leveled. Some believe that the members of those two sects from centuries ago, still live on today, harboring ill-will towards the other...   Architecture: Varied between location and religious bend. Conclave tends to vary by deity, while Assembly is rather monotone, and Apartisan fond of minimalistic and natural   Commerce: Education, Theology, Magical Goods, Alchemy, River Transport   Population: Human, Elf, Half-Elf, Gnome   Society: The Trinity - Council of 3 representatives, one from each settlement   Miscellany:    Syzygy, Post Fall: The advent of a new pantheon of deities has certainly caused a massive shift in dynamics amongst those residents of Conclave. While some groups currently coexist uneasily within the current status quo, there are some who are blatantly antagonistic towards those who worship The Favored. Specifically, the followers of Ichor, The Bled Tormentor, Hadar, The Starved Beggar, and Dymphna, The Mad Eccentric, have had the most frequent altercations and show the least amount of interest in learning to cohabitate.
