Mabiristahn

City of Watchers and Whispers. Constructed on a small island atop a fertile tundra. Inhabited by monks and others who seek isolation and internal reflection. They historically have eyes and ears all over the world and is home to the largest historic library that reportedly houses all historic information of the mortal world. While their chief goal is the acquisition of history and secrets, they are sworn to never reveal or use it, only inwardly reflect upon it. If a topic is to be discussed, it is to be only with another watcher, and only in hushed whispers and murmurs. It is a common site to see pairs and groups of people within the city congregating closely and speaking into the ears of each other so as to be inaudible to onlookers. The high altitude and lack of solid vertical surfaces also impairs the ability of sound to travel to would be busybodies. The highest ranked among their city are known to swear vows of silence, and have developed the ability to speak directly to the minds of others.
