U.S. Department of Supernatural Affairs

The Department of Supernatural Affairs (abbreviated to DSA) is an American federal government department charged with the responsibility to understand, regulate, and control the population of anomalistic entities and phenomena in the United States.

Public Agenda

The DSA's main agenda is to assure the safety of all residents from foreign and otherwise supernatural invaders. Providing resources to reduce and prevent any harm to loyal Americans and enacting legislation to further win this war on anomalistic threats across the country.

Assets

With government funding and residential taxation, the DSA holds a large federal budget of $8.5 million, expending that sum on resources and supplies necessary to regulate hostilities of Cryptids, Beasts, Anomalies, and Phenomena. Weapons, food, gear, supply, expenses, and infrastructure would be financed through this federal budget, allowing bases of operations to be found in a majority of counties across the States.

-Trapper Initiative

The DSA began the Trapper Initiative in 1865, running a campaign to conscript local hunters and fur traders into applying for the federal position. This became the catalyst in forming the widespread profession of Trapping, jumping cultures from trapping small animals to hunting large predatory beasts. It became a high-risk high-reward career for most, forming a cultural tie to what made America great for others.   At its debut, the initiative had 450 men and women sign up, expanding greatly to 10,500 in 1890. Trappers were expected to own a weapon for hunting prior to signing up, but in later years issued firearms are given to new recruits at DSA training centers.

-Technological Advancements

To measure anomalistic changes in alpha particles, researchers at the DSA manufactured and patented a compact version of a 'Barr Meter', allowing it to be as portable as a compass. This european originating device became the pinnacle and most viable tool for any trapper. The meter will spike when high traces of anomalistic particles are found in the air, commonly indicating Cryptids or beasts roaming within proximity.   DSA was also one of the first forms of the military to utilize rapid-fire lever action weaponry on the field; basing new firearm models on the 1873 Winchester rifle. This allowed large caliber firearms such as shotguns and hunting rifles to hold large capacity rounds and be emptied in a short period of time. These weapons were highly effective on the field for trappers, making hunting missions more successful and dropping mortality rates by a fraction. These lever action weapons have become a modern requirement for any trapper's toolkit.

Legislative body

Having federal control, the DSA can manipulate and form new legislation in the Government's interest.   A board committee of DSA representatives discuss and vote on vital matters such as withholding information, stationing new outposts, and decisive actions on high-leveled threats. This decision shape the way supernatural encounters are dealt with and forms the pillars that create a frontline against the enemy.   Agents are employed to control the spread of information if necessary, protecting US citizens from hazardous intel that could affect their way of living. Their resources are close to unlimited. They have full jurisdiction under DSA orders to enact decisions that will result in the resolution of a problem.   Notaries within the DSA National Office in Washington DC, wire money and authenticate documents and receipts of all bounties redeemed from trappers around the US.   Hunt Wardens are issued in almost all counties to maintain and regulate rules that fall under DSA jurisdiction. They also distribute and promote hunts/bounties to known paranormal threats, acting as marshals in their appointed areas.

Exports

The DSA has government-established fur-manufacturing plants, allowing the United States government to export quantities of rare furs overseas to allied nations.   Additionally, the DSA also encourages and supports the fur trading industry, allowing privatized businesses to form and flourish with assistance from the US government itself. This has led the fur trade industry to become the 4th largest industry in the country.
