Bumblebee

"The least likely can the most dangerous, you never know who is watching in the dark."

Bumblebee is an amnesiac small Autobot who is probably the nicest bot around. He's getting along with almost everyone and can easily connect with people. He's full of love and openly displays affection, giving hugs and sharing his kindness is his usual routine. He's very curious by nature which means he can be often found in Science Department. But never let his adorable face fool you. While being generally a softie, kindness is not Bumblebee's weakness as he has zero tolerance for mistreatment and will retaliate immediately. Anger is the driving force that pushes him forward no matter what. He's very independent, not always following orders of his superiors, and often keeps snippets of information to himself unless the situation absolutely demands him to disclose it. He's sneaky and observant which makes him perfect for his job as SpecialOps agent. Bumblebee can and will manipulate his enemies, making his sabotages more terrifying by causing so much chaos and panic that Decepticons named him "Shadowlurker, the Ghost of Iacon". This elusive mech will get into your base, steal all your intel while spreading havoc, and get out uncaught. And even if he gets caught, depending on the situation, he can easily pit his enemies against each other or jump straight into combat, reminding everyone about his true frametype. Bumblebee is well aware of his weaknesses, that's why will use anything to his advantage: from his various mobility options and environmental structures to the ESPER ability that allows him to sense sparks of others on great distances. He's incredibly brave and determined, nothing can stand between him and his ambitious goals. He doesn't like being in the spotlight and much prefers dwelling in darkness. He's nocturnal and the only living Cold Construct in existence.

Appearance

Bumblebee is a small and rounded-shaped cybertronian with bright yellow plating and black stripes. His head is crowned with two little horns. The top of his head has a black stripe that goes from the back of this head to the forehead, ending with a triangle facing down. His optics are light blue and have hexagon-shaped pupils that narrow into slits when he's agitated or facing the bright light. This lower jaw is reinforced with an additional panel that prevents it from breaking during strong bites. He has sharp fangs, but they are too short to poke from his upper lip. Two little vents appear on both sides of his face. His rounded shoulder pads have flashlights and black stripes. His chest has 2 symmetrical black stripes that that go down from the top and then turn towards his back. His Autobot insignia is placed on the left black stripe. On the back, one of his folded windows is visible, which is a part of his car roof in alt-mode. His spark chamber is sealed shut by a protective shell, concealing the spark as a safety measure. Cannot be opened. His shoulders are fully black with front tires attached to them, while his forearms are yellow with black fin-like panels on the sides. Black triangle facing up placed close to his black palms on both hands. A movable palm guard protects his hands from damage. His yellow legs are segmented, allowing them to shorten when he activated quadrupedal mode. Knee guards are black, starting with a black stripe that goes down to his tippy-toe panels. His back tires a placed inside his foot, facing perpendicular to the ground, allowing him to stand on them. Slits, reinforced jaw, fangs, and segmented legs are his beastformer features that often being overlooked at first glance. Bumblebee can also roar and make other beats sounds that are connected to his true alt-mode. No one knows what it is, but definitely not a cybertronian feline as he cannot purr.

Personal History

Amnesiac stranger

Bumblebee was found unconscious by Jazz, who was doing evening patrol around the ruined city of Iacon. After not finding any insignias on him, it was decided to bring him to the Autobot Stronghold. The yellow minibot wakes up in the medial bay, finding himself resting on the medial berth. He looks around and finds he's not alone in the room, seeing Windblade sleeping on the next medical berth beside him. Before he could draw any conclusions, he senses two figures coming and pretends to be asleep. Soon, Optimus Prime and Ratchet enter the room, where the medic explains Bumblebee's condition after he checked the minibot. It is revealed that the minibot is the youngest among them, being forged a few hours ago, and points out that he's incredibly fragile, meaning there are no resources left on Cybertron. Bumblebee stops pretending to be asleep, fearing that Autobots might get rid of him for being weak, but Optimus quickly reassures him they won't do such a thing. After Bumblebee introduces himself, Ratchet asks him how he got to Iacon without being intercepted by Depictions as they are the ones controlling the AllSpark at the moment, but Bumblebee cannot remember for an unknown reason. Optimus tells him that Decepticon scientist Shockwave did something on the battlefield earlier that slightly corrupted memory banks for several Autobots and suggests this might be the reason why the minibot can't recall anything. Mentioning Shockwave's name does trigger a strong reaction from Bumblebee: almost immediately he suffers from severe migraine and his spark starts pulsing erratically which quickly accelerates, causing a forced reboot. Bumblebee wakes up 5 minutes later and finds out he's being watched by Windblade, who woke up a bit earlier. They introduce each other and quickly bond over corrupted memory banks and determination to stop the war.

The Elusive Shadowlurker

After being assigned to Special Operation Departement by Optimus Prime, Jazz starts training the minibot to be a spy and scout. While being on a mission he looks around the broken world, and ever wonders which this war has begun in the first place. He's very skeptical that just lack of resources could cause something like this and believe it's more than meet the eye. He quickly learns all new tricks and even more about himself. One time Jazz conducts a special training for Bumblebee, where Steeljaw was playing the role of Decepticon spy Ravage and what to do if he encounters them in vents during the mission. The training went incredibly well, but Bumblebee could feel Steeljaw's fear afterward. The minibot finds out the reason when he accidentally eavesdrops on the Autobots High Command gathering, which just happened to discuss him and his performances. Steeljaw points out that during the training session, Bumblebee reacted fast, going straight to the weak point with this charged stinger. While the minibot didn't shoot, Ratchet confirms sending even the weakest electric shock directly into the processor will knock out cybertronian, and a stronger setting will cause death. This confirms that Bumblebee knows exactly what he was doing. They quickly realize that despite being tiny and weak, Bumblebee is fully capable of clean murder. Bumblebee quietly leaves as the conversation of his superiors got him thinking. He realizes that how everyone sees him as a cute little minibot that probably can't do much harm, and it shocks when it turned out otherwise. Bumblebee makes a delicious to this to his advantage to sow seeds of terror among his enemies. He doesn't jump into this scheme immediately but gradually adding tension every time he infiltrates Decepticons base like misplacing things or breaking something. As he gets more experience, after hundreds of years since his forging, he dives fully into this. Bumblebee harasses Decepticons for the next two centuries which earns him quite the reputation of the terrifying entity that lurks in the night that even Megatron places a big bounty for his capture.

The Acceleration Point

One evening, after playing a chasing game with Cheetor, Nightstalker and Steeljaw, he discovered a message that was lopping via a dead radio channel in the code that no one could decipher except him. It said "Shadowlurker, we need to talk." which immediately implied that sense is Decepticon since only they call Bumblebee this name. The Autobot High command was concerned for the minibot's safety, but he convinced them that he can handle this mission. Soon, Windblade joins his mission, refusing to let her best friend go alone. Turns out, the Decepticon was Thudnermoon - the eldest living cybertronian. The Storm Wyvern informed that they and Rainmakers wish to join Autobots. After checking their true intentions with their telepathy, Bumblebee and Windbalde escort them to Autobot Stronghold where the High Command is waiting. Thundermoon reveals that Acid Storm might be in danger as they refused to assist Shockwave in his messed up experiments. Bumblebee agrees to help while mentally taking notes on Shockwave as this mad scientist used to have a high status in the past. Optimus agrees to take Thumdermoon in. After that, some Autobots turned on Bumblebee, like Cliffjumper, believing he's too young and naive to help a Decepticon. It hurts Bumblebee, but he is willing to accept this sacrifice if it means he can save as many cybertronians as possible. Despite the rumors, Bumblebee still receives a lot of support from other Autobots, like Botanica. She works hard to develop a formula to harden his plating so he can take less damage. All her attempts failed, but she never gives up and informs him that she developed another one. Bumblebee thanks her and goes to the cafeteria to revive his energy cube with the supplement, but this is where the stress of the recent event catches up with him. Bumblebee's phobias and nightmares grew worse that he finds himself easily triggered by simple things like Wheeljack being stuck on the ceiling, or Botanica's roots.

Facing the Monster

Later on the lookout, he sees a blue jet entering Stronghold territory and crashed into a broken building. He identified Ion Storm and immediately run to help. After the blue Rainmaker was brought in medbay, Optimus Prime informs Bumblebee that Acid Storm was taken by Shockwave while locking their sibling in cells in the same facility he blew up several years ago. Bumblebee wastes no time and runs to help, but he was stopped by Windblade and Thundermoon, arguing he cannot do this alone. Optimus catches up and tells him they will prepare and depart together. Like Jazz foresaw, the way to research facility was full of Decepticon forces, including Megatron himself. While both factions clash, Bumblebee makes his way forward, avoiding most of the fights until he was stopped by Combactions. They didn't take the minibot seriously at first, seeing how small and cute he is, but he quickly proved them wrong when he ripped a chunk of metal of Blast Off leg with his fangs and dropped rubble on Braw's head. After creating chaos, he almost reaches the facility, only to be stopped by Bruticus. Scowling at the fact Combactions combined again him, he roars, successfully stunning the gestalt. Then he proceeds to stab their multiple time with his stingers in hopes he can paralyze them as he did with Razorclaw. But it didn't happen, instead, his arms were hurting as if something were burning where his stingers are. Bruticus managed to grab on Bumblebee and throw him at the wall, where he gets impaled with a piece of armature in the arm. Then Bruticus tries to finish the stuck minibot, but Blackarachnia saves him. She frees him from the armature and tells him to go while she handles the brute. Bumblebee ends up in the vent system, he quickly senses both Nova Storm imprisoned and Acid Storm being in labs with Shockwave nearby. He rushes to the labs, and soon he frees Acid Storm from being strapped to the medical table. They thank him, and while Bumblebee was formulating the escape plan, they noticed a barcode on the back of his neck. Bumblebee has no idea what that means, so they explain to him that he's a Cold Construct. The minibot is shocked as he thought it was impossible to achieve, and so does Shockwave when he enters the room and overhears their conversation. The mad scientist boasts how Cold Construction was his life work, but he never could bend the very nature of a spark. He sees Bumblebee as an opportunity for his ambitions. Acid Storm floods the labs with water distracting the scientist so they can escape. But Bumblebee has other ideas and instead he attempts to electrocute Shockwave to death. Unfortunately, the pain in his arms became unbearable and something snapped, sending the electric shock back to Bumblebee, electrocuting him as well. He wakes up in medbay after more disturbing dreams. Ratchet and Optimus inform that his stingers were completely melted and removed. It hurts Bumblebee as he cannot defend himself anymore, which leads to a breakdown. He reveals he must kill Shockwave (who survived his attack) because he released something to the core of Cybertron. Then suddenly he blacks out for a second. Then he discovers that this memory was completely removed, which scares Bumblebee even more.

Abilities

Bumblebee is agile and flexible. He several mobility options that can be beneficial in different situations:

Bipedal mode - the movement on two legs: good for combat and saving energy during long travels on difficult terrain;

Quadrupedal mode - the movement on all fours: good for sneaking around and in vents. Faster than bipedal, but consumes more energy;

Car mode - the movement in alt-mode: the fastest option, but also the loudest and most energy-consuming, heavily depends on terrain;

Limb cables - each limb can shoot a cable that attaches to any surface, allowing Bumblebee to swing, or hang down. He can use them to secure himself in one place, preventing falling;

Underwater - his flexible body allows him to fluidly move his legs in the vertical plane which makes him a good swimmer.

Additionally, he's aware of his position in space and corrects himself quickly, for example, he always landing on all fours after the fall. His arms are equipped with Stingers - electrified blades that can shoot electricity. While it's not powerful enough to burn through armor, sending electricity into seams between plating eventually will shock neurowires, rendering his target paralyzed. Sending a weak electric charge into the gap between head and neck will shock the processor, knocking the target out, meanwhile, any stronger charge will cause death. Sadly, the material for them wasn't the best and they soon melted inside Bumblebee's arms. They had to be removed completely, leaving the miniboss defenseless. Like any beastformer, his jaw is incredibly strong and his fangs are sharp. Despite being physically weak, Bumblebee can tear metal apart with his teeth, as reinforcement of the lower jaw prevents it from shattering. Bumblebee has amazing eyesight, allowing him to see really far that only rivals with other minibot, Cosmos.

ESPER

Bumblebee has ESPER ability called Spark Telepathy. It allows him to sense sparks of other living beings in his vicinity. He can judge the distance to them, the direction they are moving, and their pulses. Because of spark's nature to serve as a second processor/brain to deal with additional information, Bumblebee can sense the emotional state of other people. He can easily tell is someone angry or happy, if someone being sincere or lying etc. The information he gets from ability is his main tool of navigation in relationships (to know what his friends need at the moment) or manipulation he pulls on his enemies (picking the most vulnerable targets for his schemes) during his missions. Thanks to Spark Telepathy, he almost undetectable and uncatchable, as he knows the precise locations of his enemies, allowing him to plan one step ahead or find a good to hide during his spark malfunction. Very much like Mind Telepathy, he can send messages from his spark to spark on the other person, though currently, he's not very good at this and requires additional training. Perhaps there is more to this and he might find out in the future.

Weaknesses

Physical

Bumblebee is small and very fragile due to the lack of resources on the Cybertron when he was forged. His planting is really soft that even small pressure might leave a dent. On other hand it's flexible, allowing him to withstand impact damage better, but anything that can cut or melt his plating is dangerous to him. Even shrapnel can seriously injure him. His own spark also causes a bunch of problems. Randomly, often triggered by stress, his spark starts pulsing erratically, the number of pulses will only increase over time. It causes growing pain in his chest and overheating. Eventually, the amount of energy that is sent by his spark will overwhelm his system, and cause a forced reboot. He completely shuts down for 5 minutes until he reactivates again and proceeds as nothing happened. Those pulses can be mitigated with medicine made for him by Medical Department. The medicine might calm his spark before it escalates, this is why Bumblebee must inject it when he starts to get two pulses in a row instead of the normal one. Currently, there is no cure for this, Ratchet has no idea why Bumblebee's spark acting like this and he cannot check the spark directly because of the shell. He doesn't wanna risk because this shell was built in for a reason, and opening it up might worsen Bumblebee's condition.

Mental

Bumblebee always seems happy minibot as he's very good at hiding his pain. He's absolutely terrified to be left alone for an extended period of time, being forgotten and ignored. He grows touched starved quickly and relies a lot on physical contact to ground himself. He doesn't take criticism and failures well, taking everything too close to the spark and fearing if he fails too much, he will lose all his friends and he will be alone again. Bumblebee takes too many risks in order to prove himself to others, which often might lead to situations when he needs to be rescued and it only worsens his self-image. He always compares himself to others, leading him to think he just doesn't do enough because he's too weak. He often takes responsibility for events that he had no control over. Additionally, he's being tortured by echoes of his own forgotten past and trauma, which often manifest in triggered memories, when he can only remember feeling, but not the event itself. At times it manifests during sleep paralysis when he hallucinating tentacled creatures and a broken version of himself. Those are the worst and Bumblebee cannot find rest after this for a few days, which makes him more exhausted. Sometimes he has a strong itch to fly, implying he is supposed to have a flying alt-mode, which often makes him sad. Thankfully, Windblade helps him to get rid of it by taking him skydiving with her. He gets more and more aggressive during the fights, ready to throw hands even with gestalts which put him more into danger bc of his dreams of this true identity. Bumblebee has a hard time asking for help, believing that he must be strong and help others instead.

Relationships

Windblade

Bumblebee and Windblade are very close, that someone might think that they're in a romantic relationship, but it's not the case. Bumblebee is aromantic and Windblade is somewhere on this spectrum, which makes their love for each other 100% platonic. He trusts her with his life, and the only person he feels he can open up about his personal issues and fears. He tells her a lot of secret stuff that he finds during his missions that he currently investigates. He spends a lot of time with her: from just chilling in each other company in the same room to mischievous gremlin shenanigans. Together they are a force of absolute chaos, turning the battlefield into a turmoil that their enemies struggle to keep up with.

Cheetor

Bumblebee bonded with them after a couple of evening scouting missions. After hanging out with them for a long time, Bumblebee unconsciously picked up a lot of cat mannerisms. He also often play cat games with them and the other two felines: Steeljaw and Nightstalker.

Jazz

Jazz is Bumblebee's mentor and acted as a guardian during the first 100 years after forging. Bumblebee cares about him and makes sure that Jazz doesn't have to do additional work since he is always busy as a third-in-command. When everyone is free, Bumblebee joins Jazz in throwing a big party along with Blaster to rave all night.

Sunstreaker

Bumblebee has no idea why, but this Autobot displayed hostility towards him from day 1. It is absolutely unpleasant to deal with him. Sunstreaker will jump at any opportunity to insult or blame Bumblebee for every failure, and even trying to physically hurt the minibot. Bumblebee, of course, is not letting this slide and retaliates, but he can't help but feel really hurt after those confrontations.

Shockwave

While Bumblebee usually cannot bring himself to kill someone, Shockwave is the only person that he relentlessly pursues to destroy. He can't remember why, but he knows this scientist is responsible for the most messed-up crap and the reason why all cybertronians are in great danger right now. Shockwave with his actions activated Bumblebee's so-called "death protocol" which means he caused so many deaths that upset the life-death balance in the Well and must be killed.

Trivia

Bumblebee's design is a mix of G1, TFA, WoC game, and even a bit of Bumblebee Movie.
His beastformer sounds based on Legiana ( high-pitched roar) and Odogaron ( chattering sound when it smells the player or prey) from the Monster Hunter series.
