Cold Construction

Cold Construction is a process of making a pre-made biometallic body that can be fully programmed by a person - from abilities and frametypes to appearances and even personalities. 
It is Shockwave's life work -  he dreamed of ways to make perfect cybertronians without pesky emotions, who will obey without hesitations. He spend eons to make this dream a reality, but one thing always stood in his way, making it impossible - the very nature of a Spark.  
Every time he injects a spark via AllSpark into Cold Construct body, it messes up all the settings. Its random, quantum-like nature often turned the body into a disgusting melted mechon blob that could not even produce anything.
No matter how many tried Shockwave tried to bend the rules or avoid them, he always met with failure. Until he saw Bumblebee - the only living Cold Construct in existence and he's determined to find out what makes this minibot so special.
