Magic

Magic on the world of Traestea is everywhere, next to unavoidable, from everyday uses to powerful wizards in their tower, everyone will have witness some magical spells in their lifetime. The way magic is harnessed varies considerably, some use arcane runes to construct phrases that embody the meaning of magic, others learn complex imagery in forging magic circles to astounding sizes that represent the complexity of what is being achieved, all methods requiring the manipulation of a substance called Mana, whether that be produced from inside the caster or harnessed from their surroundings.

Who uses Magic?

Basic Magic is common, at least one person in every village would be able to cast a cantrip or two, making life easier for those that live there and are traditionally village leaders or advisers. Noble families will have stronger natural affinity to magic or would be extremely skilled at swordsmanship or another skill, it's how they rose above the rest and came into their positions of power. But those fully practiced in magic, the wizards atop their towers, in their caves or hiding in libraries were generally feared. Mainly due to fear mongering by the land rulers that could not control them, most Lords or Dukes would either employ or become close with the wizards on their land to make sure they wouldn't cause problems there. However due to The Heroes 150 years ago, the opinion of wizards has now been shifted, there's almost an expectation on them to do good with their magic, Wizards had a vast amount of different responses to the change in opinion, some went into hiding, some took the fame as a blessing and started spreading magic further, others overtook land using their new popularity.
