The Keepers' Hideout

"You know the eastern wing of the Palace? The top floor is apparently meant to just be storage, but I've seen the lights be on at all hours of the night in there! I swear to you, something is going on in there!"

"Oh stop it you. You and your conspiracy theories all the time. It's a university and a museum, of course there's going to be people there all the time!"
The top floor of the Old Imperial Palace in Tosormi's capital has always been kept off limits for most people. During the Empire's days it was used for homes for the royal family and their closest servants, and now it is used mainly for storage for the University and museum downstairs.   At the end of the Eastern wing, however, is an apartment that not many know off. When the palace was first built this was the residence of Prince Namoh, but after he died it was simply left as it was. For some reason there never came any orders to clean it out, and every time someone tried to find a use for it, it was suddenly used for something by another department or person and not to be disturbed.

Actual Use

The truth is, prince Namoh never did die. He has been living in his old quarters ever since he first moved in there. As the unofficial leader of the Keepers of Time, it has also been used as their headquarters.   Although they change place for their meetings regularly, prince Namoh has kept records and other important things for the Keepers in his apartment ever since he became Keeper over 150 years ago.

Hiding in Plain Sight

It has been surprisingly easy to keep the place a secret.   During the Empire's reign, Namoh could simply personate as different relatives of the royal family and keep using his rooms. The steady circulation of servants was easy to control so that they didn't get suspicious.   After the Empire left, the Keeper's already existed. With Namoh in the official role as 'advisor' for them, they made sure that anyone enquiring about the eastern wing's top floor, got sent on a pointless hunt through countless departments of the university, museum and the government itself until the person gave up.

This is really interesting! I love the details about how they keep the headquarters a secret from enquiring people, sending them on a runaround until they give up. Prince Namoh sounds like a fascinating person too.
