Faith of Hevren
There is no overall faith for Hevren. Instead, people worship different aspects of Hevren, or take commands and guidance from his immortal fey servants. Those most favoured of Hevren are spoken to through their dreams or can see his wishes through clouded water in starlit glades.
There are not even many centres of worship for Hevren, and very few clerics of Hevren tend to gather, such is the way of solitude. However, there are some specific groups of people, and one or two locations, that are known to be popular amongst followers of Hevren.
Arden Forest: As with most of the Moon Rulers, Arden Forest is a gateway to so many mystical and fey realms, with paths across and through time, that it has always stayed sacred to their followers.
The Spire: This is a remote strand of crystal in the northern ice, surrounded by frozen waves. In this remote outpost, a circle of seers, diviners and prophets gather, with twisted trees and thorns protecting them from the outside world. Here, they worship Hevren and gather prophecies together, deciding when and where they must travel to prevent the destruction of the world.
Colleges of Divination: Wherever diviners gather, so too do the followers of Hevren. All faiths and none have the loyalty of diviners, but all diviners to some extent (save those that actively seek to harm the Balance) carry a spark of loyalty to the god of Prophecy.
Marshes: Throughout the world of Torthe, where there are marshes and swamps, there will be followers of Hevren. There is a tradition of covens gathering beneath new moons and whispering their allegiance to Hevren.
Crossroads: Crossroads are special to followers of Hevren, and often when an inn or other structure is built at a crossroads, followers of Hevren will be found nearby.
Warlocks: Warlocks often bind themselves to various aspects of Hevren through his fey servants, and they will take on “marks” associated with specific followers at times.
Tenets of Faith
- Protect the balance in all things, do what is needed to prevent the End;
- Messengers of Hevren must be obeyed without question;
- Places steeped in time and prophecy are sacred, do not harm them;
- Life is to be lived, with whatever rules are desired;
- Be given what is needed, and give what you wish, so shall the Balance be maintained;
- The future is malleable, and can be changed, but only ever in favour of the Balance;
- Protect the world from the fear of the future;
- Protect the secrets of Hevren’s whispers for all but the worthiest;
- Protect those with Hevren’s gifts where it would not harm the Balance.
Priesthood
Ranks within the faith:
There are no strict ranks within the faith, except from those who have the most recent message from Hevren’s followers.
Holy symbol / robes:
Water effigies, greys, incense burners to create smoke, a third eye symbol, two horns, a twirling knot of infinity, etc.
Approach to internal conflicts:
Hevren’s faith may fight each other, or may not, there are so few rules and gatherings that often individuals may not even recognise each other as being from the same faith. Where circles or temples to Hevren exist, they tend to follow their own ideas of Hevren.
